Specifically, in Japan, rubber futures for May increased slightly by 0.4% to 295.2 yen/kg. In Thailand, the June contract increased by 1% to 76.18 baht/kg.
Several major companies in the rubber and tire industry are expanding their production scale. China's ZC Rubber Group plans to invest more than 1.8 billion yuan to develop the second phase of its "Zhongce 5G green factory" in Hangzhou, doubling its current capacity.
Also in Latin America, Linglong, another Chinese company, is partnering with Paraguayan company Sunset to build a tire factory in Brazil. The project, worth around 1 billion euros, is expected to be fully operational by 2032, with a production capacity of up to 20 million tires of various types per year.
In Europe, Kumho Tire from South Korea is selecting locations for a new manufacturing plant, with Poland, Serbia and Portugal as the three potential countries. The project has an estimated total value of around 616 million euros.
In Vietnam, Jinyu Tire Group has completed construction of a passenger car tire plant in Tay Ninh, adding to its existing truck and bus tire production facilities. When fully operational, the group will have a total capacity of up to 20 million tires per year.
Meanwhile, South Korea has put into operation its first and largest waste tire pyrolysis plant in Dangjin, invested by LD Carbon. The plant can process 50,000 tons of tires per year and will be fully operational from next month.
Domestic rubber prices remain stable at some businesses. At Phu Rieng Rubber Company, the purchase price of mixed latex remains at VND400/DRC, while that of liquid latex is VND440/TSC.
At Ba Ria Rubber Company, liquid latex costs 462 VND/TSC degree/kg, applicable to TSC degrees from 25 to under 30. Clotted latex with DRC degrees from 35 to 44% is purchased at 13,600 VND/kg, while raw latex ranges from 16,900 to 18,200 VND/kg.
Mang Yang Rubber Company also maintains stable purchasing prices. Water latex ranges from 415 to 420 VND/TSC depending on the type, while mixed latex is purchased at 378 to 430 VND/DRC. This price has been applied since April 15, 2025.
