More than 30 meters of the Nam Binh Thuong reservoir bank in Nam Binh 1 village, Binh Son commune, Quang Ngai province has been seriously eroded, with the risk of the dam breaking. Today, the local authorities mobilized forces and used sandbags to temporarily reinforce the dam, ensuring the safety of crops and property of people in the area.

Heavy rains have returned to Quang Ngai since last night, and the water levels of rivers and dams have risen again. More than 30 meters of the Nam Binh Thuong reservoir bank have collapsed and lost its footing. Upon receiving the news, early this morning, the Binh Son commune authorities urgently mobilized local forces and used sandbags to reinforce the collapsed dam section.

Nam Binh Thuong reservoir has an earth dam body, built nearly 45 years ago and is among the degraded reservoirs. By 4 pm this afternoon, the commune's functional forces had gathered more than 2,000 sandbags to build a dam wall, and the landslide site has been basically temporarily reinforced.

If the dam of Nam Binh Thuong reservoir breaks, it will affect more than 600 households, with about 2,000 people living downstream. Local authorities have informed people about the dam body landslide and sent forces to closely monitor this landslide site to have a response plan, ensuring the safety of people's lives and property.
