Ensuring food safety through livestock traceability system
According to the Agriculture and Environment newspaper, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine coordinated with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Vietnam to organize a workshop and combine "Introduction and implementation of the Traceability System for Livestock Farms and Livestock Products".
The traceability system for livestock farms and livestock products was created to meet urgent needs: transparency in the supply chain, shortening the time to trace food safety incidents, and integrating into the international market. The goal is to increase trust, management efficiency, and competitiveness for the industry.
For the traceability system to operate effectively, livestock farms and managers need to comply with four main requirements: issuing codes; fully declaring information; ensuring data quality and storing and sharing data.
The livestock product traceability system plays a key role in many important aspects. First of all, it helps enforce the law by specifying the provisions of the Animal Husbandry Law, creating a unified legal framework. This system also ensures food safety by controlling product quality, minimizing the risk of disease and protecting consumer health.
At the same time, increase market transparency, provide clear information about origin and production process, meet the increasing needs of consumers.
