In the region, Vinh Long continues to be the locality with the lowest price at 48,000 VND/kg, while Ca Mau maintains the highest price at 50,000 VND/kg. Dong Thap, An Giang and Can Tho provinces are currently stable at 49,000 VND/kg.
Overall, the price of live pigs in the South today is recorded at around 48,000 - 50,000 VND/kg.
Despite the increase, the price level in the South is still lower than in the North, commonly in the range of 48,000 - 50,000 VND/kg.
According to livestock businesses, consumption demand in the South has not fully recovered since the beginning of the week, however the market's upward trend reflects that buying sentiment is gradually improving.
With an increase of 1,000 - 2,000 VND/kg nationwide, the price of live pigs is currently fluctuating between 46,000 - 51,000 VND/kg. Experts assess that the market is moving into a positive adjustment phase as demand for food processing is expected to increase sharply from the end of November.
The supply to the people remains stable, but large farms are carefully reviewing the sales progress to keep up with actual demand. It is forecasted that in the next two weeks, if purchasing power from processing enterprises and retail systems increases, the price of live pigs is likely to establish a new level.
Phu Tho issues new regulations on livestock density until 2030
According to information from the Agriculture and Environment newspaper, the People's Committee of Phu Tho province has issued Decision No. 97/2025/QD-UBND regulating livestock density in the area until 2030.
According to this decision, livestock density in Phu Tho must not exceed 1.8 livestock units per hectare of agricultural land. The regulation officially takes effect from November 22, 2025.
In special cases, the province will consider adjusting density based on socio-economic development strategy, land use planning, livestock farming conditions, applied technology and ecological environmental factors to suit the actual situation.
In order to effectively implement the new regulations, the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to take the lead, coordinate with relevant agencies to organize propaganda, guide and supervise implementation in the locality. At the same time, the Department will also advise the Provincial People's Committee on policies to direct livestock development in accordance with density regulations, in accordance with the province's development plan.
This agency also has the task of guiding organizations and individuals to comply with regulations related to land, environment and water resources in livestock farming activities.
The People's Committees of communes and wards are assigned to disseminate and propagate the new regulations to livestock organizations and households in the area; at the same time, coordinate with the Department of Agriculture and Environment and related units to develop livestock farming in the right direction, exploiting the maximum potential of the locality while still ensuring compliance with the law and density limits.
After the merger, Phu Tho now ranks second in the country in terms of total pig and poultry herds. The whole province is estimated to have about 2 million pigs, 36.4 million poultry, in addition to 415,000 buffaloes and cows and 18,600 dairy cows.
