Gia Lai: 3 people in a family were swept away by flood water, 1 person died

Three people in a family in Gia Lai were swept away by water while crossing a spillway. The husband only had time to save his son, while his wife was swept away by the water.

On September 1, Mr. Krung Dam Doan, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ia Hrung Commune, Gia Lai Province, said that an accident had just occurred in the area due to being swept away by flood water.

According to initial information, at around 6:00 p.m. on August 31, Mr. HR (born in 2006) was driving a motorbike carrying his wife, Ms. D.W (born in 2003), and son Kh. (born in 2023, both living in Ia Nueng village, Bien Ho commune, Gia Lai province) across the spillway of Dut 1 village (Ia Hrung commune) when the water swept him and his motorbike away. During the incident, Mr. HR was able to save his son, while Ms. D.W was swept away by the water and went missing.

Upon receiving the news, the Fire Police and Rescue Police of Gia Lai Province mobilized vehicles, officers and soldiers to coordinate with local authorities to search. Due to heavy rain and strong currents, the search was difficult. At 10:15 a.m. on September 1, the authorities found the victim's body about 1.5 km from the accident site and handed it over to the family.
