As of December 16, 2025, the domestic rice market in the Mekong Delta provinces continues to remain stable, with prices largely unchanged compared to previous trading sessions. The main reason is the limited supply at the end of the harvest season, while the export market has yet to show any significant breakthroughs to drive up prices.

Domestic rice prices remain stable.
According to observations, trading activity in localities is quite slow. Farmers do not have much rice left, while the new crop has not yet entered the peak harvesting stage. Farmers are maintaining stable asking prices, with no pressure to lower them.
In An Giang province, the Department of Agriculture and Environment reported that the prices of fresh rice remained stable.
- IR 50404: 5,200 – 5,400 VND/kg
- OM 5451: 5,500 – 5,600 VND/kg
- OM 34: 5,200 – 5,400 VND/kg
- Dai Thom 8 and OM 18: 6,400 – 6,600 VND/kg
Similarly, in other provinces and cities such as Dong Thap, Can Tho, and Vinh Long, trading was also sluggish, with few traders inquiring about purchasing. Meanwhile, in Ca Mau , ST25 rice continued to be offered for sale regularly at stable prices.
As for raw rice in the Mekong Delta region, prices have remained stable:
- IR 50404 rice: 7,600 – 7,700 VND/kg
- OM 5451 rice: 8,150 – 8,300 VND/kg
- OM 18 rice: 8,400 – 8,600 VND/kg
- Dai Thom 8 rice: 8,700 – 8,900 VND/kg
At retail markets, the prices of popular rice varieties remained unchanged compared to the previous day. Nang Nhen rice was the most expensive, at around 28,000 VND/kg; Huong Lai rice was at 22,000 VND/kg; and regular rice ranged from 13,000 to 14,000 VND/kg.
Specifically, the by-product group recorded a slight increase of 100 VND/kg. The price of OM 5451 broken rice rose to 7,500 – 7,600 VND/kg, and the price of rice bran reached 6,600 – 6,700 VND/kg. However, the trading volume of these items remains low.
Export markets face challenges.
On the world market, the export price of Vietnamese rice remained stable in the first half of December 2025. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), the selling prices of some major rice varieties are as follows:
- Fragrant rice with 5% broken grains: 435 – 460 USD/ton
- Jasmine rice: 454 – 458 USD/ton
- White rice with 5% broken grains: 362 – 366 USD/ton
While Vietnamese rice prices remained stable, Thai rice prices surged due to concerns about the impact of flooding on supply. Vietnam's rice exports are also under pressure from import controls imposed by the Philippines, its largest consumer market.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has revised its forecast for Vietnam's rice exports in 2025 down to approximately 8 million tons, a 2.4% decrease from the previous year, primarily due to a decline in sales to the Philippines market.
Short-term forecast
Experts predict that domestic rice prices will remain stable in the short term unless there are unusual weather events or sudden changes in export demand. The market is expected to become more active again when the new harvest begins and major importing markets show clearer signs of recovery.
