Rice price today November 19: Dai Thom 8 rice slightly decreased

Updated rice prices in the Mekong Delta on November 19 showed that the domestic market was stable, except for Dai Thom 8 rice, which was adjusted down by VND100/kg. Transactions slowed down due to low end-of-season supply.

Rice price developments on November 19

According to an update from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang province, the rice market in the Mekong Delta region on November 19 recorded stability in most commodities. The only notable change was the price of Dai Thom 8 rice, which decreased slightly by VND100/kg.

Meanwhile, market transactions were quiet due to the limited supply of end-of-season rice in many localities. Vietnam's rice export prices remained stable.

• Long grain Thai fragrant rice: 20,000 - 22,000 VND/kg

• Jasmine rice: 17,000 - 18,000 VND/kg

Fresh rice price and trading situation

Fresh rice prices in localities remain stable. Specifically:

• Dai Thom 8 rice: 5,600 - 5,700 VND/kg
• OM 18 rice: 5,600 - 5,700 VND/kg
• OM 5451 rice: 5,300 - 5,500 VND/kg
• IR 50404 rice: 5,100 - 5,300 VND/kg

In An Giang, Dong Thap, Can Tho , Vinh Long and Tay Ninh, the remaining rice supply at the end of the crop is very limited, causing transactions to be slow and limited. Some traders said that buying is difficult to make a profit at the current price.

Rice export market

In the world market, Vietnam's rice export prices continue to remain stable. The selling prices of the main rice varieties are as follows:

• 5% broken white rice: 370 – 374 USD/ton
• 5% broken Jasmine rice: 478 – 482 USD/ton
• 5% broken fragrant rice: 415 – 430 USD/ton

Compared to its competitors, Vietnam’s 5% broken rice price is higher. Specifically, the price of the same type of rice from India ranges from 355 to 359 USD/ton, Thailand is at 333 to 337 USD/ton and Pakistan is at 329 to 333 USD/ton.
