In An Giang , the price of fresh OM 380 rice ranges from 5,400 - 5,600 VND/kg. Dai Thom 8 and OM 18 rice remain at 6,800 - 7,000 VND/kg. IR 50404 is stable at 5,300 - 5,500 VND/kg, OM 5451 at 5,900 - 6,200 VND/kg, and Nang Hoa 9 ranges from 6,650 - 6,750 VND/kg. In many localities such as Dong Thap, Kien Giang, Can Tho and Long An, the supply of Summer-Autumn rice is still low, transactions are slow, and prices are almost unchanged due to concerns about unfavorable weather and weak demand.

Regarding rice, some raw materials have been adjusted. Raw rice 5451 decreased by 200 VND, down to 9,400 - 9,600 VND/kg. OM 380 rice remained at 8,000 - 8,100 VND/kg, IR 504 at 8,250 - 8,350 VND/kg, CL 555 traded at 8,600 - 8,800 VND/kg, and OM 18 at 10,200 - 10,400 VND/kg. Finished rice OM 380 reached 8,800 - 9,000 VND/kg, while IR 504 fluctuated at 9,500 - 9,700 VND/kg.

Transactions in localities are quite slow, with few goods arriving. In An Giang, many warehouses are cautiously buying due to uneven rice quality. Areas such as Lap Vo, Sa Dec ( Dong Thap ) and An Cu (Tien Giang) all recorded slow transactions and stable prices.

By-product prices continued to move sideways today. OM 5451 broken rice remained at 7,500 - 7,600 VND/kg. Bran fluctuated between 8,000 - 9,000 VND/kg.

At retail markets, the retail prices of rice remain unchanged. Nang Nhen rice continues to maintain its highest price of VND28,000/kg. Regular rice costs VND13,000-15,000/kg, Jasmine from VND16,000-18,000/kg, and common white rice around VND16,000/kg. Specialty rice such as Soc Thai, Nhat and Huong Lai all range from VND20,000-22,000/kg.

Rice price today 30/3/2025: Mixed fluctuations this week

In the export market, Vietnamese rice prices remained stable compared to yesterday. 5% broken rice is currently at 397 USD/ton, 25% broken rice is 368 USD/ton and 100% broken rice fluctuates at 325 USD/ton.

China continues to be one of Vietnam’s largest import markets. In March alone, the country imported 240,000 tons of rice, a sharp increase compared to the previous month. Of this, Vietnam accounted for nearly 40% with more than 94,900 tons, far surpassing Thailand, Myanmar, India and other competitors.

The structure of rice imports into China shows that polished rice is the most popular, accounting for 76% of total imports. Broken rice accounts for 24% and brown rice accounts for a very small proportion.

Currently, China’s domestic rice market is in a period of slow consumption. Although the government still organizes rice auctions at minimum purchase prices, the actual transaction rate is still very low. The supply of old-crop rice is clearly differentiated between regions: many places have run out of stock, while some sources still have inventory and keep prices high. However, due to weak demand, the purchasing speed has slowed down, even during the preparation for the Dragon Boat Festival.

The new rice crop in China is currently in the sowing and growing stage. Businesses are closely monitoring the weather, as there is a local drought in Guangxi, while light flooding has occurred in Jilin, a Japonica rice growing region. Although the quality of the rice has not been significantly affected, the progress of planting is facing many obstacles.
