The updated bulletin of the Hydrometeorological Station of the Northern Delta and Midlands region said that due to the influence of the low pressure range with an axis through the North combined with strong wind convergence up to 5,000m, from now until July 31, Hanoi will have moderate rain, heavy rain, very heavy rain in some places and scattered thunderstorms.

During thunderstorms, the hydrometeorological agency said there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind. The average rainfall in Hanoi in the 3 days (July 29-31) ranges from 40-70mm, with some places reaching 100mm. There is a risk of flooding and landslides in many localities.

In fact, flooding is still occurring seriously in many communes in the two districts of Chuong My and Quoc Oai. Up to now, more than 3,000 hectares of 2024 Summer-Autumn rice crop in many localities along the rivers: Bui, Tich, Day are still flooded...

The water level of the Bui River is still high.

Deputy Head of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue of Hanoi City Nguyen Xuan Dai said that in order to proactively respond to the developments of heavy rain that could cause flooding and landslides in the coming days, the unit continues to send official dispatches to districts, towns and cities requesting them to focus on response.

The key task is that localities need to proactively deploy preventive measures, respond to and overcome consequences promptly, urgently and effectively according to the "4 on-site" motto to ensure human safety and minimize property damage.

In particular, it is necessary to pay attention to key areas, areas at risk of flooding, landslides, and unsafe constructions due to prolonged rain and floods, and saturated soil; resolutely organize the evacuation of affected households and those at risk of unsafety out of dangerous areas.

For districts still affected and suffering heavy damage from storm No. 2 (Chuong My, Quoc Oai, Thach That...), the Hanoi City Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue requested to urgently deploy response plans, overcome consequences, and ensure people's lives in a timely and effective manner.
