World gold price today November 29, 2025

At 8:30 p.m. on November 28 (Vietnam time), the world spot gold price was at $4,188/ounce, the February 2026 futures contract reached $4,200/ounce. The March 2026 silver futures price increased by $1.22 to $54.14/ounce.

Global markets were hit hard after a problem at a CME Group data center caused futures trading to be halted for hours. The problem was traced to a cooling system at a Chicago data center operated by CyrusOne. Engineers had to reboot equipment and deploy temporary cooling systems. CME said the entire futures market would reopen soon.

The outage, which lasted longer than the 2019 crash, highlighted the global market’s heavy reliance on the Globex electronic trading platform. Many traders expressed concern about the lack of pre-market directional data, especially for derivatives trading desks.

On geopolitics, Russian President Vladimir Putin said there is no final draft for the Ukraine peace agreement, but he assessed that President Trump's proposals could serve as a basis for negotiations. The 28-point plan was grouped into four main contents by the US and Ukraine during the discussions in Geneva.

In energy markets, Nymex crude is headed for a fourth straight month of decline as OPEC+ prepares to meet this weekend. Brent crude hovered above $63 a barrel, while Nymex crude traded around $59 a barrel.

Sources said OPEC+ is likely to continue its plan to suspend production increases until early 2026. Oil prices have lost about 15% since the beginning of the year on concerns about global oversupply, as OPEC+ restarts capacity and non-member supply continues to rise.

In addition, the possibility of a Ukraine peace deal could also have a major impact on the oil market, as any easing of sanctions on Russia could free up significant additional supplies for customers such as China, India and Turkey.

Gold price forecast

Factors such as falling interest rates, high levels of uncertainty, a weaker US dollar and a correction in the cryptocurrency market are all supporting gold, said Sameer Samana, head of global equities and real assets at Wells Fargo Investment Institute. The long-term uptrend in gold remains intact, although the market may continue to correct in the short term.

Samana predicts the Fed will soon shift to a more dovish stance as the Trump administration appoints new personnel, especially when Powell's successor is announced. The current leading candidate is Kevin Hassett, who tends to favor lower interest rates.

The Fed’s rate cut reduces the opportunity cost of holding gold, providing important support for the precious metal’s price. This could also cause the USD to continue to weaken over the next 12-15 months.

Another driver supporting gold is the growing trend of investors diversifying in an uncertain environment. Gold is becoming a prominent diversifier, especially as bonds lose their traditional role in the context of high inflation and falling interest rates.

In terms of market outlook, Wells Fargo forecasts that high-quality risk assets will continue to be supported by the Fed's pivot to prioritizing the labor market over inflation. Although the US economy may weaken until 2026, most of the risks have already been priced in, and any further declines in stocks will be modest.

This expert believes that the Fed's interest rate cuts when inflation is still high will be detrimental to bonds, prompting investors to seek alternative assets, and gold will become the most accessible option. In addition, central banks are also continuing to diversify away from the USD, contributing to strengthening gold demand in the long term.
