Gold price today dropped sharply
As of 6:00 a.m. on June 4, the price of gold today on the international market decreased to 3,358 USD/ounce, down 32 USD compared to 3,390 USD/ounce at the same time the previous day. Meanwhile, the price of gold for August delivery was also not out of the downward trend, sliding 24.8 USD/ounce to 3,372.4 USD/ounce.
The main reason for the decline in gold prices today is profit-taking pressure after the previous strong increase, combined with the increase in US stock indexes.
In addition, the strong appreciation of the US dollar has put additional pressure on the precious metal. However, the risk-off sentiment in the market is still present, as trade tensions between the US and China continue to simmer, creating potential momentum for gold - a safe-haven asset.
In related markets, crude oil futures edged up slightly, trading around $63.75 a barrel, while the yield on 10-year US Treasury bonds held steady at around 4.45%. These movements are helping to shape the short-term trend of the gold market.
In Vietnam, at the end of June 3, the price of SJC gold was listed at 117.2 million VND/tael (selling), while the price of gold rings reached 113.5 million VND/tael.
