Gold price hits unprecedented high, surpassing 102 million VND/tael

This development originated from the international market. Early this morning, the international gold price was trading at 3,125 USD/ounce, up 40 USD/ounce compared to the opening price the previous day. Thus, the price of the precious metal has far exceeded the 3,100 USD/ounce mark.

Gold prices rose sharply as investors increased their holdings of gold to hedge against risks due to concerns about escalating global trade tensions. At nearly 9 a.m., the price of the precious metal was trading at $3,135.5/ounce.

In the domestic market, the gold price did not increase strongly, only from 200,000 to 300,000 VND per tael, but it was enough to reach the highest level in history.

Saigon Jewelry Company Limited listed gold rings of type 1-5 at only VND99.2 million/tael (buy) - VND101.4 million/tael (sell), an increase of VND200,000/tael each way compared to the end of yesterday.

Phu Nhuan Jewelry Joint Stock Company kept the buying price unchanged and increased the selling price by VND100,000/tael, to VND99.5 million/tael (buying) - VND101.9 million/tael (selling).

For SJC gold bars, the business set the price at 99.8 million VND/tael (buy) - 102.1 million VND/tael (sell), an increase of 300,000 VND/tael each way.

99.9 million VND/tael (buy) - 102.2 million VND/tael (sell) is the price of plain round gold rings listed by Bao Tin Minh Chau Company Limited, 300,000 VND/tael higher than the end of yesterday each way.

Thus, the price of SJC gold bars set a new record at 102.1 million VND/tael; the price of gold rings reached a historical high of 102.2 million VND/tael.

In the foreign exchange market, the State Bank of Vietnam announced the central exchange rate of VND to USD, applicable for April 1, 2025, is 1 USD = 24,835 VND, down 2 VND compared to March 31.

However, BIDV listed the USD price at 25,410 VND (buy) - 25,770 VND (sell), an increase of 25 VND compared to the previous day.

Vietcombank is at 25,410 VND (buy) - 25,770 VND (sell) instead of 25,380 VND (buy) - 25,740 VND (sell) like yesterday.
