On the evening of April 12, on Vietnam Airlines ' ticket sales website for the Hanoi - Phu Quoc flight on April 29 (the first day of the holiday), all economy, super economy, economy saver, economy saver, and standard economy tickets were sold out, and only business class tickets remained, costing over VND13 million/flight. Although the ticket prices were quite "expensive", there were only a few seats left on each flight on the system.
Similarly, the Hanoi - Da Lat route also has record high airfares with round-trip tickets of Vietnam Airlines ranging from 7 million to 8.5 million VND for economy class, and Vietjet ranging from 3.2 million to 8 million VND.

For the Hanoi - Nha Trang route, ticket prices have also increased to more than 7 million VND for round-trip economy class tickets of Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet and Bamboo Airways.
Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Mai (Tay Ho, Hanoi) said that with the airfares announced by airlines during this year's holiday, specifically Vietnam Airlines, a pair of round-trip tickets from this airline for the Hanoi to Phu Quoc route ranges from over 10 million to 26 million VND/pair of tickets.
“For a family of four to go to Phu Quoc, the economy class ticket alone would cost more than 40 million, not to mention food and hotel room. This amount is beyond my family’s budget. However, even if I wanted to, I couldn’t afford to buy a ticket,” said Ngoc Mai.
More than 100,000 seats added for the April 30-May 1 holiday
Recently, at a meeting of the Ministry of Transport, Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam Dinh Viet Thang predicted that the lack of aircraft could make airfares during peak season and summer more scarce and expensive.

In order to meet the travel needs of people during the April 30 - May 1 holiday, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has requested airlines to continue to increase flights. Accordingly, Vietnam Airlines (VNA) has added more than 100 domestic and international flights, equivalent to more than 15,000 seats. Thus, VNA will provide a total of 575,000 seats and 2,900 flights during the peak period from April 26 to May 2, an increase of more than 10% over the same period last year.
The domestic routes with the most increased flights are tourist routes between Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang, Hue, Quy Nhon, Nha Trang, Da Lat, Phu Quoc, Con Dao...
Vietjet Air will also add 86,000 seats, equivalent to nearly 425 flights on routes to and from Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, Nha Trang... during the summer to serve people and tourists.
Previously, the Department considered adjusting the parameters at Noi Bai airport (from 37 flights/hour to 42 flights/hour during the day) in April and adjusting the parameters at Tan Son Nhat airport on some peak days during the April 30-May 1 holiday (from 44 flights/hour to 46 flights/hour during the day) immediately to serve the travel needs of people during the April 30-May 1 holiday.
Although airlines are actively increasing flights, with ticket prices increasing "dizzily" (although still within the ceiling price range set by the Ministry of Transport), the dream of traveling by plane is still far away for many people.
