World oil prices
World oil prices showed signs of cooling down this morning after a sharp increase. As of 9:00 a.m. Vietnam time, Brent crude fell by 0.41 USD/barrel (0.6%), to 69.36 USD/barrel; WTI crude fell by 0.11 USD/barrel (0.2%), to 67.97 USD/barrel.
This development is believed to be the result of the market correcting after falling into the “overbought” zone in the trading session on June 11, when both types of oil jumped more than 4% – the highest level since early April.
Analysts said the previous price increase was due to the news that the US was withdrawing some personnel from the Middle East, a move that raised geopolitical concerns. Many investors began betting on the possibility of disruptions in global oil supplies, even though OPEC+ still maintains its plan to increase production.
Tensions in the Gulf region continue to be a risk for the oil market, with the UK Maritime Authority warning that the escalation in the Middle East could affect the safety of shipping along key oil shipping routes.
One of the worst-case scenarios experts have been talking about is Iran blocking the Strait of Hormuz, a shipping route for about 20% of global crude oil. While the likelihood of this happening is considered low, JPMorgan has predicted that oil prices could spike to $120-$130 a barrel if that happens.
Domestic gasoline prices today June 13
According to the adjustment from the Ministry of Industry and Trade - Ministry of Finance on June 12, 2025, the retail prices of domestic petroleum products have increased sharply.
Specifically, E5 RON 92 gasoline increased by VND199/liter, to a level not higher than VND19,462/liter. RON 95-III gasoline recorded an increase of VND269/liter, bringing the retail price close to VND20,000/liter, specifically VND19,967/liter.
Not only gasoline, oil products were also adjusted to increase significantly. Diesel 0.05S price increased by 280 VND/liter, up to 17,700 VND/liter. Kerosene increased by 227 VND/liter, reaching 17,511 VND/liter. Meanwhile, fuel oil 180CST 3.5S increased the most with 283 VND/kg, selling price is not higher than 16,461 VND/kg.
This price increase reflects the development of world oil prices in recent days when tensions in the Middle East made the global market worried about the risk of supply disruption.
