World oil price today October 14, 2025
After a sharp decline last weekend, world oil prices recovered slightly today. Brent crude oil increased by 0.65 USD to 63.38 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 1%. US WTI crude oil also increased by 0.64 USD to 59.54 USD/barrel, an increase of 1.1%. Previously, both types of oil lost about 4% of their value, falling to their lowest level since May.

Oil markets were supported by news of a possible meeting between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, raising hopes of easing trade tensions between the world's two largest economies .
The release of 20 Israeli hostages by Hamas as part of a US-brokered ceasefire agreement also added to the optimism, with US President Donald Trump calling it a “historic dawn for a new Middle East.”
According to DBS energy expert Suvro Sarkar, the sharp decline last week was mainly due to the ceasefire in Gaza and the US-China trade turmoil ahead of the November 10 deadline. However, the current outlook for oil prices depends largely on the outcome of upcoming negotiations between the two sides.
Trade tensions have risen again after China expanded controls on rare earth exports, and the US announced it would impose 100% tariffs on Chinese imports. However, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent confirmed that the two leaders will still meet in South Korea at the end of October, indicating an effort to maintain dialogue.
On the demand side, Chinese customs data showed that crude oil imports in September rose 3.9% year-on-year to 11.5 million barrels per day, a signal that energy demand in the world’s second-largest economy remains stable.
The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) in its October report maintained its forecast for global oil demand growth for this year and next.
However, OPEC expects the market to fall into a smaller supply deficit in 2026, as the OPEC+ group gradually raises output.
