JOY Heyball International Billiards Tournament 2023: 360 million VND in championship prize money

The 2023 IHPA International JOY Heyball Billiards Tournament is one of the stages in the Joy Heyball 8-ball tournament system, a new sport that is developing rapidly in countries in the region and continent, and is oriented to be included in the competition program at the 33rd SEA Games - 2025.

Officially opening on August 9 at the City Sports Service Center, the tournament gathered 128 players, including 30 experts from 12 countries and territories. Notable names at this tournament include Moh Keen Hoo, a Malaysian player who entered the 1/8 round of the Joy World Championship and won the SEA Games; 14-year-old "prodigy" Muhamad Afid, the Malaysian youth champion; Jeffrey Pascor De Luna, the number one player in the Philippines; Charlen Chai, the top female pool player in Singapore...

Many famous female players participated in the tournament.

The tournament applies the rules of the international Joy Heyball, played on 8 Joy Heyball tables and international standard balls provided by Pool Aramith. The players are randomly drawn into 16 groups of 8 players each and compete in a best-of-two format. The top four players in each group will advance to the round of 64, playing a direct knockout until the quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals.

As committed, the Organizing Committee decided to offer very high rewards, including 15,000 USD (about 360 million VND) for the champion; the next positions in the top three categories also have correspondingly high rewards of 7,000 USD and 3,500 USD. Individual prizes are awarded up to 32nd place (400 USD) while the athlete with the highest coefficient of the entire tournament will also receive a reward of 1,000 USD.
