At the workshop, representatives of the Institute of Medicinal Materials - Ministry of Health disseminated the Project on Research and Development of Medicinal Plants for the medical and pharmaceutical sector in the Vinh Phuc area (Phu Tho province) and reported the results of investigation and assessment of the diversity of medicinal plant resources in the Phu Tho province (formerly Vinh Phuc area). Results of quality assessment of some medicinal plants; some results on the situation of planting and using medicinal plants and the plan for conservation and development of medicinal plants in the Vinh Phuc area (Phu Tho province).

Vinh Phuc area ( Phu Tho province) has rich potential for medicinal plant resources, with low mountainous terrain interspersed with plains, typical humid tropical climate and diverse ecosystem, creating a favorable environment for the distribution and growth of many precious medicinal plant species.
The results of the investigation of the composition of natural medicinal plants in this area recorded a total of 750 natural medicinal plants belonging to 484 genera, 158 families and 5 phyla of vascular plants. Diverse in medicinal uses, the total of 750 medicinal plant species are divided into 16 common disease groups such as skin diseases, digestive diseases, bone and joint diseases, etc.
The results of the quality assessment of some common medicinal herbs in Vinh Phuc area (Phu Tho province) show that most of these medicinal herbs meet the standards in the Vietnamese Pharmacopoeia. Currently, in the area, many medicinal plant growing models have been established according to GACP - WHO (Good agricultural and harvesting practices as recommended by the World Health Organization), which is the source of raw materials in the production of drugs of private companies. Besides these models, other medicinal plant growing models are quite popular such as: Self-supply, concentrated production and business in Tam Dao, Concentrated conservation gardens in Lap Thach, Song Lo, Tam Dao.

Identifying medicinal herbs (Cordyceps sinensis, yellow tea) as one of the province's key agricultural products, in recent years, Vinh Phuc area (Phu Tho province) has effectively implemented many policies to support the development of key crops in general and medicinal plants in particular, such as the Resolution of the Provincial People's Council on Regulations on policies to support linkages in production and consumption of agricultural products in Vinh Phuc area (Phu Tho province).
Since 2021, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, now the Department of Agriculture and Environment, has accepted and provided funding for 11 linkage plans, including 1 plan for linkage in production and consumption of yellow flower tea products. Regarding the implementation of the Project on organic and organic agricultural development in Vinh Phuc province for the period 2023 - 2025, with a vision to 2030, in 2023, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (old) has coordinated with localities to select and implement 4 models of organic medicinal plant production with a scale of 1 ha/model, including: 2 models of organic yellow flower tea production in Tam Quan commune, Tam Dao district; 2 models of organic Morinda officinalis production in Thai Hoa commune and Bac Binh commune, Lap Thach district.
It can be said that, along with the dynamism of households, the province's policy mechanisms are an important driving force to help form concentrated medicinal plant production areas in an organic direction, linking production with consumption, contributing to job creation and promoting agricultural restructuring for many localities. Currently, in the province, many specialized medicinal plant growing areas have been formed, concentrated in the districts of Tam Dao, Lap Thach and Phuc Yen city, interspersed with nursery models of seedlings in some households, medicinal plant gardens at medical stations in localities.
At the Scientific Workshop on Proposing Solutions for Developing Medicinal Herbs in Phu Tho Province (Vinh Phuc Area), delegates focused on exchanging and discussing the contents of the plan for preserving and developing medicinal herbs in Phu Tho Province in the coming time, focusing on solutions to implement the plan such as strengthening management capacity, supervision and inter-sectoral coordination; managing seed sources, standards and quality of medicinal herbs; investment support and incentive policies; enhancing the application of information technology and digital transformation; linking markets and product consumption...
In order to preserve, exploit and develop the genetic resources of indigenous plant varieties, especially rare, endemic species with high economic value, in the coming time, Phu Tho province will continue to form concentrated commodity production areas, promote the development of medicinal plant cultivation models into commodity production industries; support and guide enterprises, cooperatives and farmers to apply scientific and technical advances in cultivation.
Create favorable conditions for units and organizations to carry out scientific research projects on developing raw material sources; move new valuable medicinal plants suitable for climate and soil for conservation and development; build chains of links for planting and consuming products... Thereby, creating safe raw material areas, meeting the strict requirements of raw material areas serving pharmaceutical processing, contributing to promoting the development of the pharmaceutical processing industry and health protection products.
