On July 14, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Cinema Association held a press conference to announce the "Golden Kite Awards 2023", marking a new milestone in the 20-year journey of efforts to elevate its position to become a national Cinema - Tourism Festival .

This year's awards are scheduled to take place from September 6 to 9 in Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa , promising to bring a rich program, strongly innovative in content, with many attractive elements, ensuring both high professionalism and increasing interaction with the community. In particular, the Red Carpet event and the Golden Kite Awards 2023 ceremony with a new and magnificent concept will be held at That Theater - Vega City Nha Trang - which is considered a new international-class cultural and artistic center with modern technical systems, stage design, sound and lighting, ready to meet the needs of large-scale national and international events.
At the press conference, Mr. Do Lenh Hung Tu, Chairman of the Vietnam Cinema Association said: Officially established in 2002, after 2 decades of efforts to gradually affirm its stature, Canh Dieu has become a national award honoring cinema and television works, theoretical research works, film criticism and outstanding authors, artists and filmmakers every year.
In 2022, for the first time, the Kite Award was held in Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa), creating positive cultural and media effects. In addition, implementing the direction of the Prime Minister at the Conference announcing the planning and investment promotion of Khanh Hoa province (April 1, 2023), the orientation of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in promoting tourism development associated with cinema, helping to elevate the Kite Award to become a national cinema brand, aiming at international level, the Vietnam Cinema Association will accompany and coordinate with the Department of Culture and Sports of Khanh Hoa province, Vega City Joint Stock Company under KDI Holdings Group to organize the annual award in Nha Trang, period 2023 - 2025.
The Chairman of the Vietnam Cinema Association emphasized that the 2023 Golden Kite Awards is not only a festival for artists, filmmakers, and audiences who love the 7th art across the country, but also actively contributes to promoting the image and tourism potential of the locality.
During the week of the 2023 Golden Kite Awards, a series of cultural, artistic, cinematic, and tourism events will be held. The Vietnam Cinema Association will organize the appraisal and evaluation of cinematographic works, television dramas, short films, animations, documentaries, science, theoretical research works, and film criticism for the 2023 awards through the activities of the Jury, consisting of 6 Sub-Committees.
An outdoor cinema route is designed along Nha Trang beach with 20 screening points for feature films, documentaries, scientific films, animations, and short films that have won the Golden Kite Award, combining artist and public exchanges. Along with that, the films participating in the Golden Kite 2023 will be screened at cinema complexes in Nha Trang to serve the audience.
The highlight of the series of activities related to cinema is the discussion "What solutions to awaken the billion-dollar industry", with the participation of dialogue and discussion of experts and prestigious filmmakers on "hot" issues of Vietnamese cinema, aiming to contribute ideas to build the National Cinema Development Program associated with Tourism.
In addition, a series of cultural and tourism events will be held such as: “Follow the Sun” is a program combining political - cultural - artistic - tourism elements, taking artists on a long journey to Mui Doi, Khanh Hoa province to perform the National Flag Salute ceremony at the moment of dawn (the earliest in the country), combined with cultural exchanges with the Border Guard and recorded in a special music video dedicated to the public.
The unique show Life Puppets (Dream Puppets) was held at That Theater - a unique indigenous cultural art program, with a combination of many types of puppetry art, many performance spaces, and musical instruments of Southeast Asian indigenous peoples...
A series of live shows gathering top Vietnamese and international singers and film artists performing movie songs and popular songs is an anticipated event in this year's series of activities.
