The tournament will last until December 21 in Bali, Indonesia. The tournament will be attended by 285 coaches, athletes and delegation leaders from 15 countries and territories.
Notably, this year's tournament has all members from 4 Asian regions: East Asia (China, Japan, Korea), West Asia (Iran), South Asia (India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nepal) and Southeast Asia (Vietnam, Indonesia, Myanmar, Cambodia, Timor Leste). Of which, the Vietnamese delegation participated in the tournament with 39 members.
In particular, world and continental sports powers such as China, Japan, Iran, and India also sent their teams to compete in 31 medal sets of the tournament, including: 22 martial arts events and 9 combat weight categories (5 men's weight categories, 4 women's weight categories).
Performance by the Vietnamese delegation at the tournament
Six years ago, the 4th Asian Vovinam Championship also took place in Bali, Indonesia with the participation of 230 athletes from 17 countries and territories.
In 2008, Bali was the first place in Indonesia where a delegation of Vietnamese Vovinam coaches and experts, led by Master Nguyen Van Chieu, came to build and develop the movement. This was the first step in preparing for the 2009 Indoor Games. Afterwards, Bali athletes were the key force in the Indonesian Vovinam team competing in the 2011 SEA Games held in this country, and it was also the first time Vovinam was included in the competition program at the SEA Games.
It is known that Indonesia currently has 600 Vovinam students with 6 domestic clubs.
It is expected that the 8th World Vovinam Championship in 2025 will also be hosted by Indonesia and held in Bali in mid-August.
Within the framework of the 2024 Asian Vovinam Championship, the Asian Vovinam Federation also held a Congress to consolidate personnel to promote the movement. Mr. Mohamed Nouhi was re-elected as President of the Asian Vovinam Federation for the second term (2024-2028).

The Congress also elected Mr. Nguyen Binh Dinh as Permanent Vice President, Mr. Praveen Garg was elected as General Secretary. In addition, the Vice Presidents include Mr. Peng Shu Chun (President of the East Asia Vovinam Federation), Nyoman Yamadhiputra (President of the Southeast Asia Vovinam Federation), Vishnu Sahai (President of the South Asia Vovinam Federation).
