On the morning of June 2, speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , Dr. Nguyen Quoc Chinh - Director of the Center for Testing and Training Quality Assessment of Ho Chi Minh City National University - said: "The Ho Chi Minh City National University Competency Assessment Council has received direct feedback from candidates. We are asking the examination cluster to verify the information and report to the council."
The supervisor let the candidates finish the test later than the specified time.
Meanwhile, a representative of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology said that on the afternoon of June 1, examination cluster No. 9 of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology - the unit in charge of examination site No. 17 received feedback from candidates regarding examination room P042 [E1-08.14] via a forwarded letter from the Office of Ho Chi Minh City National University.
Immediately after receiving the information, examination cluster No. 9 urgently conducted a review and initially recorded that during the second round of the competency assessment exam on the morning of June 1, in room P042, the invigilator opened and distributed the exam papers but allowed the candidates to complete the exam later than the prescribed time.
The above incident resulted in shortened test time for candidates in room P42.
"This is a shortcoming that arose during the exam coordination process, causing certain impacts on the rights of the candidates involved.
The school has reported in detail to Ho Chi Minh City National University and asked for instructions on how to resolve the issue to ensure the best interests of candidates.
At the same time, the exam supervisors who violated the regulations will report and the disciplinary council will consider and discipline them according to regulations," the school representative added.
Candidates taking the competency assessment test reported losing 30 minutes of test time.
Previously, after the end of the second round of the 2025 Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment exam, on some social networking forums, candidates reported that in the exam room [P.042 18.14], Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, after the bell rang, the exam invigilator announced that this was the time to read the questions and not to hold a pen.
Then at 8:43 (13 minutes late), a candidate picked up a pen and was reminded by the supervisor. When you asked about the time to do the test, the supervisor still confirmed that it was the time to read the questions, so the candidates still believed in that information.
However, after a long time without being allowed to do the test, at about 8:52 (22 minutes late), a candidate reminded the supervisor, "Teacher, we don't have to look at the test in the first round."
However, the invigilator still replied that they had to wait for the bell to ring before they could take the test. It was not until 9:00 (30 minutes late), when they received a final reminder from the candidates, that the invigilator asked them that the actual test time was from 8:30.
"What makes me upset is why the invigilator didn't take any action the first time the candidate reminded him? Second, why is it that an invigilator in a major exam doesn't know the time and exam regulations?
The above incident has seriously affected the spirit and test results of me and many other students in the exam room because it took too much time. We really hope to receive a satisfactory explanation for this incident," the candidate requested.
This is not the first time that an invigilator incident has affected the rights of candidates in the 2025 Ho Chi Minh City National University Competency Assessment Exam.
In the first round of this year's exam, the Ho Chi Minh City National University's Competency Assessment Examination Council verified and concluded the case of a candidate who was upset that "the invigilator delayed the candidate's test time by nearly 20 minutes but did not make up the time".
The examination council has taken measures to handle the situation, assigned the leaders of examination cluster 50 to contact the affected candidates, and the examination council representative directly apologized and committed to creating favorable conditions for candidates to participate in the second round of exams.
