Ancient banyan trees in the relic site 'captivate' visitors

The Gian Gua historical site is located in Nhon Nghia commune, Phong Dien district, Can Tho city. There is an ancient banyan tree over 150 years old, over 12 m high, attracting tourists to visit.

This banyan tree trellis is considered unique in the West, because the trunk and roots are like a spider web, with many layers intertwined and tangled, covering an area of ​​nearly 3,000 m2 , creating a magically beautiful scene.

For many years, the Gian Gua Historical Site has been an attractive tourist destination. In particular, many young people often come here to visit, take photos, and film impressive footage. Every year, this place also welcomes thousands of visitors to pay their respects to Ba Thuong Dong Co Hi.

This place is seen by young people as a magical, mysterious forest, with a new space of scenery, many coconut trees intertwined together into a giant spider web-like network, creating a beautiful virtual living space...

Every year, this place welcomes thousands of domestic and foreign tourists to visit.

An old resident here said that the Gian Gua historical site is not only associated with the history of land reclamation but also with the history of the fight against foreign invaders of Can Tho City.

Today, this is a place for folk cultural and religious activities, a place for cultural and artistic exchange, especially the art of amateur singing of local people and attracts a large number of tourists.

In April 2013, the Gian Gua Historical Site was recognized as a city-level historical and cultural relic. On June 13, 2013, the ancient banyan tree was recognized as a Vietnamese Heritage Tree by the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment.

The ancient banyan tree has been recognized as a Vietnamese Heritage Tree.

Mr. Duong Nhat Quang (23 years old, living in An Giang ) said that when he came to the Gian Gua relic site, he was extremely impressed by the unique system of roots and tree trunks intertwined, as if he were lost in a mysterious forest.

Similarly, Ms. Tran Kha Vy (25 years old, living in Can Tho City) said that she often chooses the banyan tree trellis in this relic site to take photos and shoot short films. The impressive scenery always brings photos and films beyond expectations.
