According to information from the Buddhist Information Portal, on April 27, Most Venerable Elder Thich Thien Nhon, Deputy Dharma Master of the Council of Patriarchs, Chairman of the Board of Trustees signed the official dispatch of the Standing Committee of the Board of Trustees on hanging the national flag and ringing the bell and drum of the Prajnaparamita to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
The document clearly stated: In response to the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, the Standing Committee of the Executive Council requests the Executive Committees of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in provinces and cities; pagodas and monasteries nationwide to hold a ceremony to hang the national flag at the Headquarters of the Executive Committees of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha at all levels and pagodas and monasteries nationwide; the welcome slogan is Warmly welcome the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification; Dharma - Nation - Socialism.
In addition, at exactly 6:00 a.m. on April 30, 2025, all pagodas and monasteries nationwide will ring the bell three times, chant sutras to pray for national peace and prosperity, and dedicate merits to heroic martyrs and those who sacrificed their lives in the resistance war for national independence and reunification; visit and give gifts to Vietnamese heroic mothers, wounded and sick soldiers, and families with meritorious services to the revolution.
According to the document, "The great victory of Spring 1975 was a great victory in the history of thousands of years of struggle to build and defend the country of our people. That victory was a victory of justice, the crystallization of the strength of the great national unity bloc. Contributing to that great victory were the merits and sacrifices of monks, nuns, and Buddhist followers of Vietnam."
