A Bronze Age wooden well has just been discovered in an extremely well-preserved state, containing a lot of interesting information.

Several samples of the black wooden posts surrounding the well have been collected and sent to the Oxfordshire Museum. Using digital archaeological methods, experts hope to determine exactly what type of tree they are made from, and how old they are. Photo: Oxford Archaeology.

Councillor Judy Roberts, Oxfordshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Infrastructure and Development Strategy, said: “This discovery provides a fantastic insight into the past land use of the area.
