Tay Ninh School for the Disabled is a place to sow knowledge, life skills and love for disadvantaged children. This special school is not only a place to study, but also a warm shelter for hundreds of disabled students, a place that marks the persistent journey of dedicated teachers and positive changes from the students themselves.
Located in Long Yen hamlet, Long Thanh Nam commune, Hoa Thanh town, Tay Ninh Province School for the Disabled is currently the common home of 140 disabled students with many types of disabilities: hearing impairment, visual impairment, intellectual disability, multiple disabilities, autism spectrum disorder... The students are divided into 15 specialized classes, 100% study two sessions per day with a curriculum suitable for each student's physical condition and ability.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Tu Tran - Principal of the school shared: "Educating students with disabilities is not just about imparting knowledge, but also a long journey filled with patience and love. We see each child as a seed that needs to be nurtured with dedication, so that they can develop according to their own abilities."
Despite many difficulties in human resources, facilities and supporting equipment, the school still achieved many remarkable results last school year: 135/140 students completed the class program, reaching 96.43%; 13/13 grade 5 students completed the primary school program. Notably, 100% of students were assessed to have met the quality standards, of which 97.86% met the capacity requirements, a number full of effort and pride for students with disabilities.
One of the professional highlights of Tay Ninh Provincial School for the Disabled is the effective implementation of the Specialized Education Program, personalization of teaching content, and flexible assessment according to the characteristics of each student. The educational plan is built on the basis of the Program for students with hearing impairments, visual impairments, and intellectual disabilities at primary level according to the decision of the Ministry of Education and Training .
Not only focusing on cultural studies, the school also actively organizes activities to educate life skills, gender, traffic safety, and abuse prevention, etc. to help students form self-service habits and enhance their independence. Extracurricular activities such as field trips, book festivals, flower arranging and painting competitions, etc. are also organized regularly, contributing to enriching the spiritual life of students.
In addition, Tay Ninh Province School for the Disabled has also continuously invested in modern teaching. All teachers prepare electronic lesson plans and use internet-connected devices in teaching. The application of information technology in management has also been promoted, from updating civil servant and public employee records on PMIS software to storing student records on the V.EMIS system.
The school has a team of responsible and dedicated cadres, teachers and employees. Last school year, 14 teachers were comprehensively inspected, all of whom were rated as good. There were 32 individuals who achieved the title of Advanced Workers, including 3 provincial-level emulation fighters and 5 grassroots emulation fighters. The school team achieved the title of Excellent Workers, and was ranked A by the Department of Education and Training in their work.
The school always pays attention to the health care and living conditions of boarding and semi-boarding students. The kitchen ensures food hygiene and safety, the menu is balanced in nutrition, and is transparent. Although there is a shortage of medical staff, the school still actively coordinates with the Commune Health Station to periodically check food, prevent poisoning, and ensure comprehensive health for students.
Principal Nguyen Thi Tu Tran said that in the coming time, the school will continue to innovate teaching methods, promote the application of information technology, focus on life skills education and comprehensive development for students. At the same time, she requested the Department of Education and Training to increase human resources and invest in facilities suitable to actual needs.
Along with fully implementing professional regulations, the school focuses on improving training quality, fostering staff, enhancing socialization of education, building a friendly learning environment, focusing on moral education, behavioral culture and promoting democracy and transparency in management.
“We hope that children come to school every day with a happy mind, are loved, respected and develop in their own way. The success of a disabled child does not lie in the score, but in the progress and happiness each day they go to school,” Ms. Tran shared.
That is not only the heartfelt words of the school's head, but also the guiding principle for the journey of sowing hope at this special school, where love exists through every lesson and every child's smile.
