Gio Linh is ready for beach tourism season

With the advantage of a coastline of over 15 km and many beautiful beaches, sea tourism is identified as one of the spearheads of economic development in Gio Linh district. At this time, localities and people in the district are actively renovating infrastructure, renewing beaches, improving service quality... to attract and best meet the needs of tourists during this year's sea tourism season.

Along with restaurants and hotels at Cua Viet beach preparing for the new tourist season, Huong Bien service business is also focusing on renovating its facilities to be ready to welcome tourists. Ms. Bui Thi Hieu, owner of Huong Bien, said that entering this year's beach tourism season, the restaurant has invested nearly 30 million VND to renovate the premises, buy more tables, chairs, and freezers.

The kitchen and shower areas have also been completely renovated. At the same time, the facility has a close contract with seafood suppliers to ensure the quality of the dishes, both imbued with the identity of the coastal region and ensuring food hygiene and safety. The prices of seafood are also publicly listed by the facility. "We have fully prepared all conditions to welcome guests, especially during the long holiday of April 30 - May 1 and the upcoming summer," Ms. Hieu shared.

Similarly, at this time, Hieu Giang food service business has also completed the conditions to welcome tourists to swim in the sea and enjoy seafood. Mr. Dao Ky, owner of Hieu Giang, said that to welcome this year's beach tourism season, he has focused on renovating and upgrading the restaurant, purchasing more tables, chairs, equipment such as freezers, electric fans, and preparing fresh seafood to serve tourists. This year, although it is just the beginning of the tourist season, there have been many groups of tourists coming to enjoy seafood, hoping for a prosperous beach tourism season.

According to Mr. Ky, to facilitate people's business, in 2022 there was a dedicated bus to pick up and drop off guests in Cua Viet beach area with a later departure time, but from 2023 onwards there will be no more, while taxi prices and driver services are still quite high.

Therefore, the wish of the business households at Cua Viet beach is to have convenient public transportation for tourists to rest and swim. "In addition, the beach management board is requested to maintain rescue teams on standby and purchase more modern rescue equipment to ensure the safety of tourists," Mr. Ky proposed.

Chairman of the People's Committee of Cua Viet Town Nguyen Xuan Phuong said that recently, the beach tourism service activities in the town have continued to be invested in, currently there are 43 restaurants specializing in serving food and drink to tourists. To attract tourists in the 2024 beach tourism season, the People's Committee of the town has organized to thoroughly educate restaurants and eateries to strictly follow the regulations set forth by the Beach Management Board.

Especially the issue of environmental sanitation, food safety and hygiene, public price listing. Strictly prohibit price gouging and "ripping off" tourists. Focus on on-site rescue and relief forces. At the same time, propagate and mobilize organizations and individuals to protect the ecological environment, collect waste well, plant more trees and shade trees, and protect tourism service infrastructure in the area.

Implementing a civilized and polite lifestyle in business to make the quality of service activities and beach tourism more and more professional. “With careful preparation, we believe that Cua Viet beach will have a vibrant beach tourism season, an attractive, friendly, safe and civilized destination for tourists,” said Mr. Phuong.

With the advantage of many beautiful beaches, favorable for tourism and resort development, sea tourism is considered the strength of Gio Linh district. To promote the development of sea tourism, Gio Linh district has recently implemented a plan to build community beaches, encouraged and created favorable conditions in terms of policies, administrative procedures... to attract investment.

In particular, within the framework of the Project "Developing tourism infrastructure to support comprehensive growth in the Greater Mekong Subregion - Phase 2", tourism infrastructure at Trung Giang, Gio Hai, Cua Viet beaches... is being invested in, constructed and completed.

In addition, the district also focuses on implementing propaganda and promotion activities for sea tourism... to attract tourists to visit, swim and relax.

Strengthening state management of tourism, security, order and safety for tourists such as increasing inspection and guiding organizations and individuals doing business in services and selling goods at tourist areas and spots, especially beaches, to post prices, ensure service quality and sell at the listed price; absolutely not allowing the situation of arbitrarily raising prices, forcing prices or selling at the wrong listed price to affect the tourism image of the locality.

Focus on promoting and implementing the Code of Conduct for Civilized Tourism through specific actions such as: wholeheartedly supporting tourists, having a civilized attitude, not soliciting or asking for money; creating changes in the awareness of service providers and businesses, thereby improving professionalism, having a vision of tourism economic activities associated with cultural depth for sustainable tourism development.

Publicize and maintain hotline numbers to promptly receive and handle information and feedback from tourists and residents.

Chairman of Gio Linh District People's Committee Vo Dac Hoa said: In order to effectively implement the 2024 sea tourism season and develop the marine economy in the coming years, at the same time, meet the requirements for developing service types and tourism in the new situation, maximizing the efficiency of beaches in the area, Gio Linh District is focusing on reviewing, adjusting, supplementing and perfecting the plan for managing and operating beach activities in accordance with regulations. The locality is aiming for the goal of civilized, friendly and effective services.

Review and supplement support equipment for rescue work such as: loudspeaker systems at high points (observation towers), signs, danger warning signs, littering prohibition signs... to ensure environmental hygiene and safety for beachgoers.

Direct the police forces of Trung Giang, Gio Hai communes and Cua Viet town to coordinate with the border guard station in ensuring security and order, traffic safety, rescue and relief at beaches; strictly handle subjects who solicit and compete for customers to sell goods; street vendors who cling to and solicit customers, and beggars at beaches. "At this point, it can be affirmed that Gio Linh district is ready to welcome tourists in the 2024 beach tourism season," Mr. Hoa emphasized.
