In the list of 4 candidates for professorship in Economics , there is only 1 female candidate proposed by the Economics Professorship Council for consideration for the title of professor in 2024, that is Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thi Thanh Tu, born in 1976 in Binh Thuan province.
According to the application for the title of professor, Associate Professor Tu is currently the Head of the Department of Science and Technology , Hanoi National University. As a lecturer, researcher and manager with many years of experience in the field of Economics, Finance and Banking, Associate Professor Tu has accumulated extensive experience in teaching, consulting and researching in international projects and in management roles.

In 1998, Ms. Tu graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Finance and Banking from the National Economics University. From December 1998 to December 2008, she was a lecturer at the Faculty of Finance and Banking, National Economics University. From May 2005 to March 2011, she was the head of the Finance and Banking research group, Vietnam Development Forum, the Joint Research Project between the National Institute for Policy Studies of Japan (GRIPS) and the National Economics University. From December 2003 to December 2006, she held the position of Deputy Director of the Center for Microfinance, National Economics University. From December 1998 to November 2003, she was a researcher and lecturer at the Center for Microfinance, National Economics University. September to December 1998: Financial analyst, Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam.
She was Deputy Head of the Department of Corporate Finance, Lecturer, Faculty of Finance and Banking, National Economics University from 2011 until she became Vice President of Vietnam-Japan University.
In October 2023, she was transferred to the position of Head of the Department of Science and Technology, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
In 2006, Associate Professor Tu completed his Master's degree in International Accounting from Swinburne University; received his PhD in Finance from the National Economics University in 2007 and was awarded the title of Associate Professor in 2015.
Her research topics include Green Banking Finance, Risk Management, Banking Governance. Associate Professor Tu has nearly 40 articles in prestigious national journals and 20 articles in international journals, publishing 12 monographs on banking finance.
Regarding international experience, Associate Professor Tu has participated in and chaired international projects funded by the World Bank, ADB and JICA on microfinance, rural finance and transport, and projects funded by the International Finance Corporation and AusAID on banking governance and corporate governance. In 2018, she was a Fulbright scholar at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, conducting research on banking governance in the United States. She has also collaborated with professors from Swinburne University (Australia), University of Alberta (Canada), Lincoln University (UK), University of Massachusetts Lowell, University of Baltimore (USA), Sungkyunkwan University (Korea) and GRIPS (Japan) on research projects on Green Finance and Banking Governance.
Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thi Thanh Tu has published many books, publications and conference papers in her field. She is a visiting lecturer at the University of Economics; Faculty of International Francophone Studies; Vietnam-Japan University, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
