(LĐ online) - The working class nature of a political party is defined as the Party taking scientific socialism as the guiding principle for all its activities; the Party builds its organization, activities and operations according to the principle of democratic centralism; the Party's goal is to build socialism towards communism.
The Communist Party is an independent political party, with a clear working class nature. C.Marx and F.Engels believed that: The Communist Party must be an independent political party of the working class in terms of politics , ideology, and organization, not dependent on the bourgeoisie. The party is independent but not isolated from the entire class and the masses; on the contrary, the party must be closely attached to the class and the masses. The party has a class character and represents the interests of the entire working class. The communists are not a separate party, opposed to other working class parties. They absolutely do not have any interests separate from the interests of the entire proletariat. From determining the historical role of the proletariat in the world, C.Marx and F.Engels came to the conclusion about the need to establish an independent political party of the working class to fight against the united power of the propertied classes; the working class, only when it is organized into an independent political party opposed to all the old political parties established by the propertied classes.
A class can have many political parties, but a political party always has the class nature of a certain social class; there is no political party with the nature of many classes. On this issue, V. Lenin said: to evaluate whether a party is a political party with the nature of the working class or not, it is necessary to base on: the party's line, strategy, and tactics; the percentage of party members coming from workers; what kind of people the party's leaders are and the ideology that the party takes as its ideological basis. The Communist Party is a political organization whose purpose is to overthrow the domination of the bourgeoisie, seize power and establish the domination of the proletariat. To realize that political purpose, in its relationship with other proletarian parties and organizations of the working class, the Communist Party must actively participate in activities in class organizations and direct the activities of those organizations into the orbit of the proletarian revolution.
The Communist Party of Vietnam was born to lead the struggle of the working class and working people of Vietnam against feudalism, imperialism, colonialism, to liberate and unify the Fatherland, and to bring the whole country forward in the direction of socialism. In the process of development, regardless of its name (Communist Party or Labor Party), our Party always carries the nature of the working class. The nature of the working class of the Party is shown in: the Party's goals and ideals are socialism and communism; the Party's ideological foundation is Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh thought; the Party's basic organizational principle is democratic centralism; the Party closely connects with the masses; takes criticism and self-criticism as the law of development,... However, the Party was born in a colonial, semi-feudal, backward agricultural country, where the working class was still small. The birth of our Party was not only a combination of Marxism-Leninism with the workers' movement but also with the patriotic movement. This is a Vietnamese characteristic, a creation of President Ho Chi Minh. He himself said many times that our Party is not only the Party of the working class but also the Party of the working people and the Vietnamese nation. In the Political Report at the Second Party Congress (February 1951), President Ho Chi Minh pointed out: The Vietnam Workers' Party must be the wise, resolute, and loyal leader of the working class and working people, of the Vietnamese people... Because the Vietnam Workers' Party is the Party of the working class and working people, it must be the Party of the Vietnamese nation. In January 1957, speaking at the Trade Union Cadre School, President Ho Chi Minh continued to affirm: The Party is the vanguard of the working class, and at the same time, the vanguard of the nation. In December 1961, speaking to long-time cadres and Party members, he reiterated: Our Party is the Party of the working class, and at the same time, of the nation. Sometimes he said: Our Party is the offspring of the nation; the interests of the working class and the nation are one.
In that spirit, the Party Charter adopted at the 2nd National Congress of the Party stated: The Vietnam Workers' Party is the Party of the working class and working people of Vietnam. Developing that ideology and from practice, the 10th National Congress of the Party has developed the awareness of the working class nature of the Party in the new period by amending the expression about the Party in the Party Charter: The Communist Party of Vietnam is the vanguard of the working class, at the same time the vanguard of the working people and of the Vietnamese nation; a loyal representative of the interests of the working class, the working people and the nation. Thus, the Communist Party of Vietnam still has the nature of the working class, is still the vanguard of the working class, but under the current conditions of the ruling Party, the Party is also the vanguard of the working people and of the entire Vietnamese nation. In fact, our Party was born, exists and develops for the benefit not only of the working class but also of the working people and the entire nation. Apart from the interests of the class, the people and the nation, the Party has no other interests. That is why our Party is loved, cared for, protected, helped and recognized by the people as their own Party, affectionately called "our Party". That is an honor and a great pride, not every party in the world has it. Expressing it like that not only speaks of the working class nature of the Party according to Marxism-Leninism, but also speaks of the Party's unique characteristics according to the creative development of Ho Chi Minh's thought, in accordance with the reality of Vietnam and meeting the aspirations and feelings of the people. At the same time, expressing it like that is not at all to downplay the class nature of the Party, to slide into the viewpoint of "the Party of all people", but to understand the class nature of the Party more deeply and more fluently. That requires the Party not only to be loyal to the working class, to raise the working class's stance and ideology, but also to study, inherit, and promote national traditions, strengthen solidarity, gather the people, and strive for the interests of the class and the nation.
In the context of a world situation with many opportunities and advantages, but also many difficulties and challenges, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, based on the foundation of the strength of great national unity, closely linking the Party's will with the people's will, promoting the spirit of self-reliance, self-confidence, self-reliance, national pride, and the spirit of pure international solidarity as a driving force, Vietnam will certainly firmly enter the era of national growth, contributing more to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world; in accordance with President Ho Chi Minh's will, which is: to build a peaceful, unified, independent, democratic and prosperous Vietnam, contributing worthily to the world revolutionary cause.
In the current situation, Party committees and Party organizations at all levels in the entire Party and political system need to continue to thoroughly grasp and effectively implement measures to maintain and strengthen the working class nature of the Party, which are: Firmly upholding the goal of national independence and socialism; not wavering or straying from that goal in any difficult situation; firmly upholding and creatively applying, contributing to the development of Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh thought; firmly upholding the principle of democratic centralism; regularly self-criticizing and criticizing, preserving solidarity and unity within the Party; regularly educating and fostering the stance, viewpoints, and organizational awareness of the working class; consolidating the close relationship with the People, strengthening the great national unity bloc; remaining loyal to the internationalism of the working class, combining the strength of the nation with the strength of the times.
Maintaining and strengthening the working class nature of the Party is a task of primary importance for our Party to lead the country to firmly enter the era of national development. It requires that Party committees and organizations at all levels in the entire Party and political system continue to firmly apply and creatively develop the Marxist-Leninist doctrine on the Communist Party to ensure that our Party is always clean and strong, completing the glorious revolutionary cause entrusted by the working class, working people and the nation.
