Colombian Cristobal del Solar, 30, became the new 18-hole record holder on the PGA Tour, shooting 57 in the first round of the Astara Golf Championship in Bogota, Colombia.
The Colombia tournament, a Korn Ferry Tour second-tier event, took place at the Country Club de Bogota with an opening round on a par-70 course on February 8. By shooting 57 for the leg, Del Solar also tied the record for strokes in a round in professional golf, set by Irishman Davis Carey on the Alps Tour in 2019, on a par-68 course.
"I'm so happy and I can't believe I shot 57," Del Solar told Golf Channel .

Before Del Solar's 57, the 58-stroke mark had only appeared six times in all of the men's world golf rankings (OWGR).
Last year, former PGA Tour star Bryson DeChambeau also shot 58 on the LIV Golf League. However, the Saudi Public Investment Fund system is not included in the OWGR.
Therefore, the list of 58 recognized authors includes Stephan Jaeger (Korn Ferry Tour), Jym Furyk (PGA Tour), Alex del Rey (Challenge Tour), Ryo Ishikawa and SH Kim (Japan Golf Tour), Jason Bohn (Canadian Tour).
Yesterday, Del Solar made the group a former record holder, with nine birdies, two eagles and no bogeys. In this result, Del Solar, in addition to his sudden change in form, was also assisted by the nature of the course – only 6,254 yards long, 2.62 km above sea level. Thanks to that, he had seven holes, each of which he played to or into the green after the second shot and finished with a birdie or eagle.
At the par-4 18th hole, Del Solar missed the 56-stroke miracle when his birdie putt from 1.8 yards missed the left rim of the hole.

Del Solar has been playing professionally since 2017. Since then, he has played primarily on the PGA Tour’s South American Division 3 circuit, where he has won four titles. Last year, del Solar made it to the Korn Ferry Tour’s second circuit.
