![]() "Wishing to turn the traditional cultural identity of the Tay people into unique tourism products" As a child of Quynh Son Community Tourism Village, my family and I have proactively turned Tay cultural heritage into attractive tourism products. We actively preserve traditional cultural values: from the intact stilt house architecture and introduce it to tourists to the cuisine , costumes and local lifestyle through the community tourism model of "eating, staying, working together". In particular, I directly preserve and perform Then singing, a type of folk song I have learned since I was 12 years old. When the tourism village started operating, I joined the communal art troupe to perform for tourists. Positive feedback from tourists is the motivation for these cultural heritages to be more interested and taught. In addition, I also actively promote the unique tourism products of the village through social networks, attracting more international tourists. The recognition of Quynh Son village as the best tourist village in 2025 is a great pride, affirming our efforts to preserve and promote our heritage. In the coming time, I will continue to promote what I have learned, not only promoting local cultural values to domestic and international tourists but also continuing to teach traditional cultural heritage to everyone to work together to sustainably preserve the heritage of our homeland. |

![]() “Love of cultural heritage binds me to my profession” I have been involved in the work of preserving and promoting the value of cultural heritage in general for more than 10 years. When I first entered the profession, I was still very confused. Many times following my colleagues on field trips, surveys, and collecting artifacts, I have somewhat understood the hardships of the profession. During my career, I was also assigned to write news articles, take photos, and edit videos about artifacts, relics, and intangible cultural heritage... to preserve documents and post them on the Museum's website. With my love for cultural heritage, I regularly sent articles and photo collections created during my cultural work trips to collaborate with Lang Son Newspaper, Radio, and Television, and many of my works have been published. In particular, I have twice won the Lang Son Provincial Press Award in the category of press photography (in 2022, I won the B prize with the work "Unique indigo color on the costumes of the Nung Phan Slinh Binh Gia"; in 2025, I won the encouragement prize with the work "Quan Lang singing - a unique feature in the Tay wedding in Bac Son district") |

![]() “Then is not only a karma but also a cultural heritage left by our ancestors.” Born and raised in Trang Dinh, the land of the Tay and Nung indigenous people with rich cultural traditions and customs, and the homeland of the famous Then To May melody, I have been immersed in Then nights since childhood. In 2002, I started studying Then, after several months of studying, researching and initially practicing, at the end of 2002, when I was 11 years old, I had the Cap Sac ceremony; in 2005, I started performing Then rituals myself. I have directly practiced many large and small Then ceremonies according to the traditional customs of the Tay people in the villages in Trang Dinh commune and neighboring areas in the province. In addition, I also regularly provide information and coordinate with central and local research and media agencies on Then rituals to serve the promotion, preservation and development of Then heritage. For example, in 2018, I provided Then lyrics in the Then Thoi Tang ceremony for the Institute of Music (Vietnam National Academy of Music) to publish the book series "Then singing of the Tay, Nung, and Thai ethnic groups in Vietnam" (3 volumes). In particular, in 2024, I was honored to be invited by the Vietnam Elite Association (L'Association Parfums du Vietnam) in France, along with a number of artisans from Lang Son and Quang Ninh provinces, to perform Then heritage in Nice and Paris, France. For me, Then is not only a fate but also a cultural heritage left by our ancestors, so I see it as my responsibility to preserve and spread it so that it does not fade away. |

![]() "Bringing the beauty of Mong culture to spread strongly in community life" As a Mong ethnic person, I always carry within me a deep pride and love for my cultural roots. The Mong people here mainly belong to the Black Mong group. Currently, many of our unique traditional cultural features are still fully preserved, such as: Sly Na Meo folk songs; brocade costumes with colors tending towards indigo and black; skills in making leaf-fermented wine, making leaf-pipes, four-hole flutes; skills in embroidery and making sophisticated traditional costumes, along with unique culinary dishes such as: leaf-fermented wine, meat hung in the kitchen... With the desire to preserve and spread the traditional cultural features of the nation, since the end of 2020, I and some elders in the village have established the Black Mong Cultural Preservation Club with more than 10 members. The club meets twice a month. Here, members are taught folk songs and dances by dedicated folk artists and elders in the commune, and learn how to play traditional musical instruments such as flutes and leaf trumpets... By June 2024, with the help of functional agencies and the Party Committee and the commune government, the Mong Ethnic Folk Song Preservation Club with 50 members aged 10 to 60 was born, creating a solid bridge between generations. As the Club's Chairman, I regularly bring members with their songs and dances to exchange with other communes, as well as participate in major cultural events inside and outside the province, contributing to promoting and affirming the cultural identity of the Mong people. |
