At the end of January, an Indian billionaire couple held a wedding in Ha Long Bay with the participation of nearly 600 guests and Indian service staff. Groom Poojan R expressed his impression and love for Ha Long Bay when choosing this place as the wedding destination. He said: We have been to many places around the world and surveyed many destinations to organize the most special event of our lives. After experiencing Ha Long Bay once, I really like this place. Although we were introduced to and considered many other destinations in Vietnam, we still give special preference to Ha Long Bay because of its beautiful natural scenery, professional and friendly service. We and our loved ones will certainly have many memorable memories here.
The couple held their wedding in Ha Long for 4 days (from January 20-23), on Ha Long Bay and at FLC Ha Long Hotel. It is known that recently, many weddings of the super-rich in India and many countries around the world have been held in Ha Long. According to Mr. B. Subhash Chandar, General Manager of Asia DMC Travel Agency, a unit specializing in connecting tours for the Indian tourist market, commented: Not only possessing a World Natural Wonder, Ha Long Bay also has a large, quality fleet with many yachts and super yachts such as: Luna Halong Cruise, Grand Pioneers Cruise, Ambassador Cruise... In particular, the facilities and service quality are always invested in by the units, impressing tourists with professionalism and friendliness. Therefore, tourists coming to Ha Long all have very good feedback and continue to recommend friends to come here.
According to Asia DMC travel agency, in 2024 alone, the agency welcomed about 15,000 Indian tourists to Ha Long every day. Of which, the agency organized 2 weddings of super-rich Indians with 1,300 guests. It is expected that in 2025, the agency will continue to introduce Ha Long Bay as a destination for Indian tourists' events, especially organizing more weddings in Ha Long Bay.
It is known that many Indian billionaires have previously held weddings in Ha Long. In early 2024, the wedding of groom Vivek Dinodiya (Indian billionaire) and bride Anmol Garg with more than 600 guests from all over the world also took place at Vinpearl Ha Long resort. Then, in August 2024, a group of nearly 4,500 guests, employees of Sun Pharmaceuticals Industries Limited, an Indian billionaire, also came and visited Ha Long Bay.
Not only attracting the attention of Indian billionaires, Ha Long is also a favorite destination of billionaires around the world. In 2019, the $150 million super yacht named Aviva docked at Ha Long International Port, bringing billionaire Joe Lewis, owner of Tottenham Hotspur football team, to visit Ha Long. Joe Lewis is a British billionaire, according to Forbes, he is one of the richest people in the UK with a fortune of more than $5 billion. When arriving in Ha Long, this billionaire shared: I was very surprised and extremely admired by the majestic natural beauty, which is rare in any place like Ha Long Bay. I was deeply impressed by the wild mountains and fresh air here. Ha Long Bay is also one of the most beautiful places in the world that we know. In fact, Ha Long City owns Ha Long International Passenger Port, the first specialized port in Vietnam capable of receiving the world's largest and most modern cruise ships to Ha Long Bay. In 2025, Quang Ninh aims to welcome 20 million tourists to Quang Ninh, including 4.5 million international visitors, while proactively expanding the market, focusing on a number of specific high-paying markets. Notably, in the middle of this year, 200 world billionaires will come to Ha Long Bay by private yacht to participate in the event "Art for Climate - Ha Long Bay 2025". According to the Organizing Committee, about 80,000 people are expected to attend the event, including policy makers, local managers, artists, environmental activists, investors, students and many members of the community.
To reach the luxury segment, experts say it is necessary to focus on luxury infrastructure, unique experiences and personalized services. For example, Quang Ninh province is urgently putting into operation 3 beaches Soi Sim, Hang Co, Trinh Nu in Ha Long Bay, as well as identifying 7 pristine island areas and beaches for the billionaire and super-luxury segment of the world's 1% population. At the same time, enhance the tourism experience through connecting private yacht services to nearby islands or helicopter transfers; providing cultural experiences on demand; meeting world-class health care facilities such as comprehensive spas with traditional Vietnamese treatments.
Ms. Nguyen Huyen Anh, Director of the Department of Tourism, said: One of the long-term goals of the tourism industry is to focus on investment, calling for investment to form an ecosystem, luxury and super luxury tourism products. In 2025, the tourism industry will continue to attract the segment of resort tourists, experiencing local culture, MICE, golf, wedding tourism through investing in new tourism products, implementing plans to develop wedding tourism, MICE, golf... At the same time, promote cooperation in international tourism development, including expanding to potential and key international markets; promote the proactive role of tourism associations, member associations in linking and connecting supply chains, connecting international cooperation, exchanging customer sources...
