The 10th grade entrance exam for public high schools in the 2025-2026 school year in Hanoi will take place on August 7; students registering for 10th grade admission to specialized high schools will take the specialized subject exam on June 9.

To apply for grade 10 of public high schools, each candidate takes three independent exams including math, literature, and foreign language.

This is the first year that the entire industry has implemented the regulations on junior high school and high school admissions issued by the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) on December 30, 2024, along with Circular No. 30/TT-BGDDT.

Implementing the new regulations, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training will announce the test scores of candidates and the admission scores for grade 10 of each high school on the same day. It is expected that by July 6 at the latest, the Department will announce the test scores and grade 10 admission scores.

As every year, the 10th grade benchmark scores of each high school in Hanoi are usually announced a few days after the exam scores are announced.

Announcing these two data on the same day helps reduce the waiting pressure of students and their families, but also poses many challenges in organization because the number of students taking the exam in Hanoi is large.

The whole city has about 110,000 candidates registered to take the 10th grade high school entrance exam for the 2025-2026 school year.
