With the central theme “Gender equality and safety for women and girls in the digital age”, the Month of Action for Gender Equality 2025 is a strong commitment of the Capital government, emphasizing the role of gender equality as a driving force for development and the need to protect women and children from violence, especially in cyberspace.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Duong Duc Tuan affirmed that gender equality is a cross-cutting goal and an important driving force for sustainable development. This is an opportunity for the whole society to raise awareness, promote practical actions, and spread a sense of responsibility in ensuring the rights, safety and equal development opportunities for women and girls, especially in the context of strong digital transformation.

In recent years, gender equality work in Hanoi has achieved many important results. The proportion of women participating in the City Party Executive Committee for the 2025-2030 term reached 14.7%; the proportion of women participating at the commune level reached over 29%.
In the 2020-2025 period, the city created new jobs for more than 952,817 people, of which female workers accounted for more than 50%; over 280,000 female workers received loans to create jobs. Indicators on education, health, maternal and child care all met and exceeded targets. 100% of victims of gender-based violence had access to at least one basic support service; many effective models were maintained such as "trusted addresses", support hotlines, women's clubs to prevent domestic violence... These results demonstrate the efforts of the entire political system and the companionship of the people of the capital.
Alongside these achievements, the digital age also poses new challenges for women and girls, such as: online harassment, attacks on private images, spreading harmful information, online fraud, and digital rape or threats. These are all forms of gender-based violence that are dangerous, sophisticated and can have long-term consequences.
In that context, the theme of this year's Action Month for Gender Equality emphasizes the need to improve digital safety skills for women and children; at the same time, building a healthy, civilized, gender-bias-free and violence-free online environment.
To implement the Action Month for Gender Equality in 2025 in a practical, effective and appropriate manner to the characteristics of the capital, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Duong Duc Tuan suggested that the city's departments, branches and sectors strengthen communication on gender equality on digital platforms; organize training activities on safe digital skills; and at the same time, proactively detect, prevent and strictly handle acts of violence, harassment and abuse in cyberspace.
People's Committees of wards and communes synchronously deploy models to support victims; review and update "trusted addresses" in the community; promptly intervene and resolve gender-based violence cases; integrate gender equality communication into local activities.
Socio-political organizations play a core role in social mobilization; enhance education on digital skills and self-protection skills; build safe communities, and support women and children at risk of violence.

Permanent Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Duong Duc Tuan hopes that each family and citizen of the capital will become an active propagandist, speak up when seeing violence; not share harmful content; always respect and protect the rights and safety of women and children in both real life and cyberspace.
The Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee called on all levels, sectors, localities, organizations and all people of the Capital to join hands for a safe and civilized digital environment; for an equal, humane and sustainably developed society; for the safety, happiness and development opportunities of all women and girls.
Speaking at the ceremony, the representative of the People's Committee of Van Dinh commune emphasized that Van Dinh commune is committed to focusing on digital solutions, including enhancing skills education, spreading positive messages about the role and position of women and girls; at the same time, mobilizing men and boys to be "wise, trustworthy companions" in the family and community.
The representative of the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem Ward affirmed that gender equality is a cross-cutting task in the socio-economic development of the area. Hoan Kiem Ward is committed to organizing online forums on "Safety for women and children in cyberspace" and promoting the exemplary role of men in building equal and progressive families, spreading the message: "Gender equality - the foundation of sustainable development and happiness".

The launching ceremony conveyed a strong and unified message: Gender equality is a continuous journey, requiring the joint efforts of the entire political system and all people, especially in the context of the need to protect women and children from the challenges of the digital age.
