(NLDO)- Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry celebrated its 70th anniversary, received the Second Class Labor Medal and announced its strategy to reach international standards.

Representatives of Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry received the Second Class Labor Medal.

At the ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Tat Toan, Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry, said that through the process of formation and development up to now, the school has become a multidisciplinary university training institution, a leading center of knowledge - technology - innovation in the region.

The school has trained more than 100,000 engineers, bachelors, masters and doctors; affirming its pioneering role in research and science transfer to serve Vietnam's agriculture and economy .

Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry has set out the mission of creating a knowledge-technology ecosystem for modern, humane and sustainable agriculture with the spirit of "Innovation to serve the community - Connection to reach the world". The school aims for a green, digital, research-based university model, serving the community and meeting international standards.

Two strategic spearheads include science and technology and innovation in training models. The school develops smart agriculture, circular economy, sustainable energy; promotes the application of AI, IoT, Big Data, blockchain, biotechnology to transform traditional agriculture. Many projects such as bioenergy from waste, climate-adaptive seedlings, traceability of agricultural products, etc. demonstrate the goal of "Agriculture for a green planet".

In the field of training, the school is comprehensively renovating to become a digital university: synchronous LMS, 70% of E-learning subjects, 100% of courses with digital learning materials, developing international programs, opening new majors and promoting liberal education.

In international integration, the school has signed more than 150 memorandums of understanding with major universities around the world, aiming to have more international conferences, international projects and new cooperation agreements each year - creating a foundation to become a globally prestigious university. Along with that, the school builds a culture of innovation, connecting more than 200 businesses through the "co-creation" model to link training - research - transfer - start-up.

Identifying university autonomy as the foundation for innovation, the school invests heavily in infrastructure, international laboratories, high-tech agriculture, diversifying revenue sources and developing elite staff. The school aims to become an internationally prestigious research university by 2045, based on three values: Innovation - Integration - Service.

On this occasion, Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry received the Second Class Labor Medal awarded by the President. In addition, Associate Professor Dr. Huynh Thanh Hung, former Acting Principal of the University, received the Second Class Labor Medal; Dr. Bui Ngoc Hung, Chairman of the University Council, received the Third Class Labor Medal.
