2,000 athletes participate in the Inter-ward Sports Festival in Ho Chi Minh City

(NLDO) - The Sports Festival of 5 wards: Binh Thanh, Gia Dinh, Thanh My Tay, Binh Loi Trung and Binh Quoi (HCMC) attracted about 2,000 athletes to compete.

On November 15, the 2025 Inter-ward Sports Festival, including the wards of Binh Thanh, Gia Dinh, Thanh My Tay, Binh Loi Trung and Binh Quoi (HCMC), officially opened and started the first competition.

The congress is jointly organized by the People's Committees of the above wards, towards the 10th Ho Chi Minh City Sports Congress in 2026.

The congress attracted the participation of about 2,000 athletes who are residents and workers in the inter-ward area; agencies, departments, branches, and organizations at the city and central levels in the inter-ward area of ​​Binh Thanh, Gia Dinh, Thanh My Tay, Binh Loi Trung, and Binh Quoi.

Athletes compete in tug of war

Taking place from November 15 to December 30, the congress organized 8 competitions including table tennis, soccer, swimming, badminton, chess, athletics, tug of war and pickleball.

Speaking at the opening of the congress, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Loan, Director of the Binh Thanh Ward Cultural and Sports Service Supply Center, Head of the Organizing Committee of the 2025 Inter-ward Sports Congress, said that the congress is held every four years to evaluate the mass sports movement, commend the spirit of health training, and the honest and noble will to compete of athletes.

This is also an opportunity for localities to exchange, learn, strengthen solidarity, contribute to improving spiritual life, and build a civilized and healthy community.

"The Organizing Committee will make every effort to successfully organize the congress, ensuring safety, solidarity, honesty and nobility, in line with the spirit of sports and the movement "Healthy to build and protect the Fatherland" - the Head of the Organizing Committee of the 2025 Inter-ward Sports Congress affirmed.

During the oath taking, athlete Dang Gia Huan, representing the athletes, pledged to compete honestly, unitedly, and nobly. Referee Nguyen Huy Lam – National Chinese Chess Referee – on behalf of the referee team, took an oath to perform his duties impartially and objectively.
