Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hoang, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City, said that he has sent a dispatch requesting the People's Committees of wards and communes to proactively inspect and review dikes, embankments, etc. to promptly handle and reinforce them. Do not let the situation of dikes and pond banks overflow, causing flooding that affects the lives, activities and production of the people. The People's Committees of wards and communes along the river, which are often directly affected by high tides, need to grasp the developments. When dike and pond bank incidents occur, they need to quickly report the affected areas and the extent of damage to the department for timely coordination and handling.

The Department of Construction of Ho Chi Minh City, the Irrigation Service Management and Exploitation Company, the Urban Drainage Company, the Technical Infrastructure Management Center of Ho Chi Minh City... coordinate with the People's Committees of wards and communes to prepare forces, means, materials, and equipment to promptly handle the locations of dikes, pond banks, tide control culverts, and critical diversion channels. At the same time, coordinate with the Ho Chi Minh City Police (fire prevention and fighting police force) to arrange mobile pumps to promptly overcome flooding caused by high tides. For roads flooded by high tides, it is recommended that units take measures to ensure safety (install warning signs, barriers, signal lights, lighting...) to avoid accidents when flooding occurs.

Southern Irrigation Exploitation Company Limited, Tri An Hydropower Company and the reservoir management unit base on the weather situation in the basin, the reservoir water level, the flow to the reservoir and the development of the downstream tide level and heavy rain in the Ho Chi Minh City area to coordinate in the operation of the reservoir to ensure the safety of the project and reduce flooding downstream, avoiding unfavorable combinations due to high tides, heavy rain combined with flood discharge...

According to the Southern Hydrometeorological Station, in the next 3 to 10 days, the Ho Chi Minh City area will have heavy rain and strong winds, which can affect agricultural production, cause trees to fall, damage houses and infrastructure, etc.

The cause of heavy rain is due to the continental cold high pressure continuing to strengthen to the South and being strengthened more strongly on November 17-18. Northeast wind operates with moderate to strong intensity over the southern seas. From November 16-18, the easterly wind disturbance in the upper atmosphere combined with the equatorial low pressure trough tends to lift the axis to the North and affect the weather in the Ho Chi Minh City area.
