The patient was brought to the emergency room in a state of severe pain and blood loss due to multiple injuries all over his body. Upon examination, doctors noted that in addition to serious injuries to the head, shoulders, arms, and back, the patient also had an epidural hematoma in the forehead.
Doctors in Con Dao urgently conducted an online multidisciplinary consultation with leading experts from People's Hospital 115, Orthopedic Trauma Hospital, and Binh Dan Hospital. Thereby, the experts agreed that immediate surgery was needed to stop the bleeding and suture the wound.
After a three-hour surgery, the patient was temporarily stable and is being closely monitored for epidural hematoma and other complex injuries.
Associate Professor, Dr. Tang Chi Thuong, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, said: “The Department acknowledges and highly appreciates the spirit of wholeheartedly serving patients of the team of doctors and nurses who are rotating to work in Con Dao. At the same time, we welcome the timely support and professional advice from experts at the city’s end-of-line hospitals, all for the sake of the lives of patients on remote islands.”
