"When people are encouraged to exercise daily and take care of their health scientifically and appropriately for their age, we are building a sustainable foundation for public health. People who know how to take care of their health are people who know how to take care of themselves," Dr. Tran Ngoc Trieu emphasized.
The Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health believes that the positive effects of the program will encourage the city to continue implementing many physical training activities in the community.
Dr. Ho Van Han, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Institute of Traditional Medicine, said that the program gathered nearly 2,000 people, health care members and medical staff to participate. Notably, many health care clubs from districts (formerly) were also present, in which many elderly people still regularly practice and actively participate in the performance. The widespread participation of the people is a testament to the growing belief in traditional medicine and health care.
At the event, a team of experts from the Institute of Traditional Medicine guided warm-up movements and 7 basic health exercises in a standing position, suitable for practice at home or in the community with a duration of only 15 minutes.
The movements were developed from 63 health care movements in the work "Health care method" by Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Huong - the founder of the modern health care movement in Vietnam. The set of exercises is likened to a "symphony of the body", including movements such as stretching, turning, leaning, bending, squatting... to help blood circulation, relax the mind and make the body supple.
Ms. Lai Thi Anh (83 years old, Phu Thuan hamlet, An Nhon Tay commune) said that she has practiced tai chi for many years and has noticed a clear improvement in her health. "Practicing tai chi has helped me become much healthier. Today I am very happy to participate in such a big program, I feel more motivated to continue practicing," Ms. Anh shared.
