On the morning of November 15, the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province issued a decision to reorganize the Vietnam - Sweden Uong Bi Hospital on the basis of merging Quang Ninh Medical College into the hospital.
This is an important step in implementing Resolution No. 72-NQ/TW and the plan to streamline medical units in the province of the Provincial Party Standing Committee.
According to the decision, Vietnam - Sweden Uong Bi Hospital continues to be a public service unit under the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province, operating with the functions of medical examination and treatment, rehabilitation, scientific and technical research and application, international cooperation and implementation of public health services according to the law.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh - Vice Chairwoman of Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee presented the decision to the leaders of Vietnam - Sweden Uong Bi Hospital and Quang Ninh Medical College.
After the merger, the hospital is also responsible for training medical human resources at college level through Quang Ninh Medical College - now a public service unit directly under the hospital.
Vietnam - Sweden Uong Bi Hospital operates under a financial autonomy mechanism; The hospital's headquarters is located in Uong Bi ward; the second facility is in Ha Long ward.
According to the new decision, Vietnam - Sweden Uong Bi Hospital has 7 functional departments (General Planning, Personnel Organization, Finance - Accounting, Nursing, Administration - Management, Medical Supplies - Equipment, Quality Management); 33 departments, including all specialties: Emergency Resuscitation, Internal Medicine - Surgery, Obstetrics - Pediatrics, Oncology, Cardiology - Intervention, Neurosurgery, Diagnostic Imaging, Testing, Rehabilitation...; Training and Line Command Center; Quang Ninh Medical College is a affiliated public service unit.
Also according to the decision, Quang Ninh Medical College is responsible for handing over all functions, tasks, personnel, assets, finances, facilities, equipment, records, documents and other related contents to Vietnam - Sweden Uong Bi Hospital for management according to regulations.
The hospital arranges personnel and apparatus, reviews norms and standards of facilities, develops financial autonomy plans and reports to the Provincial People's Committee to resolve arising issues.
The conference announced the decision of the Provincial People's Committee on the temporary appointment of Mr. Tran Anh Cuong to hold the position of Director of Vietnam - Sweden Uong Bi Hospital and concurrently assigned him to hold the position of Principal of Quang Ninh Medical College.
Ms. Pham Hoai Thuong, Principal of Quang Ninh Medical College, was temporarily appointed to hold the position of Deputy Director of the Hospital, concurrently Vice Principal of Quang Ninh Medical College. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Hoa and Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diep were temporarily appointed to hold the position of Deputy Director of Vietnam - Sweden Uong Bi Hospital.
