Leaders of Ho Chi Minh City and Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association presented flowers to congratulate artists of Busan Dongnyeok Theater Troupe.
On the evening of November 15, at Tran Huu Trang Theater, a cultural exchange cooperation program between Busan Theater Association (Korea) and Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association took place in a lively, warm and inspiring atmosphere.
This is the second year of cooperation between the two art units by organizing exchanges in a rotating format, following the success of previous performances in Busan of the play "Comrades" (Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association). This time, Busan brought the play "The Joy of Doctor Manh's House" to the city, attracting student audiences and artists in Ho Chi Minh City.
Very early, a large audience, art school students and many city artists were present to enjoy the play "The Joy of Doctor Manh's Family" performed by the Busan Dongnyeok Theater Troupe.
Play with Vietnamese subtitles attracts audiences in Ho Chi Minh City
The Tran Huu Trang theater space was bustling and cozy, the excitement of the audience combined with the sincere exchange spirit of artists from the two countries created a rare and special atmosphere.
The LED screen showed the lines translated into Vietnamese so the audience could easily grasp the story and laugh heartily when the actors added a few Vietnamese words: "Thank you", "Em oi!"... making the play even more impressive.

The play, imbued with Korean folk comedy, tells the story of Mr. Manh, a fame-hungry man who, out of a desire to enter a noble position, agreed to marry his daughter to the son of a high-ranking mandarin.
Ironically, the future son-in-law was actually a scholar in disguise, asking for shelter and secretly spreading rumors that the Minister's son had a crippled leg and many bad habits.
The rumor scared Mr. Manh and his wife. They did not want their daughter to fall into an unhappy marriage, so they forced the maid to take her place. This deceitful act opened up a happy ending: the honest person received happiness, the liar had to face the truth about himself.
Through 75 minutes of performance, Busan Dongnyeok artists conquered the audience with their natural, restrained but profound performance, full of folklore but still modern. Laughter erupted from charming but not overused comedy situations, led by a steady and delicate rhythm.
Honoring good and evil values through theatrical language
In a humorous form, the play sets out a clear message: good triumphs over evil, honesty will be rewarded, and lies and blind ambition will sooner or later be exposed.
This is also the common spirit in traditional Korean art, which emphasizes morality, harmony and goodness.

Those values, when placed next to the aesthetics of Vietnamese audiences, create an interesting similarity: for a long time, traditional arts, especially tuong, cheo, and cai luong, have always nurtured the spirit of upholding justice.
The moment the applause rang out for a long time at the end of the show was a testament to that resonance.
Artists of two countries – a beautiful friendship through art
Attending the program, People's Artist Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City - presented flowers and souvenirs (10 million VND/each unit), and sent congratulations on the program's great success.
She affirmed: "This is a valuable opportunity for artists from the two cities to strengthen their friendship, share the language of creativity and contribute to promoting the growing cultural exchange between Vietnam and Korea."
Many familiar artistic faces of the Ho Chi Minh City stage were also present: Meritorious Artist Ca Le Hong, People's Artist Trinh Kim Chi - Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association, Director Ton That Can - Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association, Meritorious Artist Le Dien, Meritorious Artist Phan Quoc Kiet - Director of Tran Huu Trang Theater, Meritorious Teacher Dieu Duc, Journalist Duong Thi Lien Chi, Screenwriter Thanh Huong, author Nguyen Thanh Binh, sand painting artist Tri Duc...

Another cultural bridge between Busan and Ho Chi Minh City
After two years of implementation, the exchange program between the Busan Theater Association and the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association has become an important cultural bridge, not only to introduce the arts of the two countries but also to learn and exchange staging methods, performance styles, and organization of contemporary theater activities.

Dramatic situations interwoven with music and physical forms create a very meaningful folk comedy picture.
"Busan, a vibrant port city, and Ho Chi Minh City, a creative and dynamic metropolis, are together writing a journey of sustainable cooperation, where art becomes a bond that connects people across all differences in language and borders.
The Korean audience watched and cheered for the play "Comrade" when we came to perform. This time, the Korean delegation came with more than 20 artists. They had an exchange session, discussed their profession, performed to connect their spirits and exchanged new creations for the two countries' stages.
This is a meaningful connection to the process of promoting the cultural industry of Ho Chi Minh City in the current period" - People's Artist Tran Ngoc Giau, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association, shared.
The exchange program is a vivid demonstration of the spreading power of the stage, where the joy and beauty of art become a common gift of two cities, two cultures and the art of theater finds its voice with the public through works that are seriously and creatively staged.
