Soc Son Waste-to-Energy Plant applies advanced and modern treatment technology (Waterleau mechanical grate incinerator technology from Belgium), fully meeting the most stringent environmental standards according to European and Vietnamese standards. The project is the fundamental solution to the problem of treating domestic waste in Hanoi Capital for many decades, turning waste into a clean, renewable energy source, contributing directly to socio -economic development.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh affirmed that the inauguration of the Soc Son Waste-to-Energy Plant is a historic milestone in the journey of developing a green - clean - beautiful - civilized capital. This is not only a large-scale economic - technical project, but also demonstrates Hanoi's strong political determination in environmental protection, sustainable development and international integration.

With a population of over 8 million, Hanoi generates approximately 7,600 tons of household waste every day. For many years, most of this waste has been disposed of by landfill, putting great pressure on the environment, infrastructure and people's lives. Therefore, switching to modern, circular and environmentally friendly treatment technology is an urgent requirement, in line with the global sustainable development trend.

According to the Chairman of the City People's Committee, this is an important turning point in the management of domestic solid waste, realizing the goal of "turning waste into resources", contributing to building a circular economic model in Hanoi.

Not only having environmental significance, the project is also a symbol of effective cooperation between the government, businesses and the community, affirming the pioneering role of the Capital in applying green technology, keeping up with the trend of renewable energy development in the world.

After more than three years of implementation, overcoming many difficulties, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, the project has been completed, officially receiving and processing the first tons of waste, contributing to reducing the load on landfills, and at the same time opening a new direction in environmental protection work in the capital.

This success, according to the city leaders, is the result of the drastic participation from the central to local levels, of departments and branches such as: Construction, Agriculture and Environment, Industry and Trade, Finance..., along with the companionship and sharing of the government and people of the old Soc Son district and the current Trung Gia commune.

On behalf of the city leaders, Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh praised and deeply thanked Thien Y Ha Noi Environmental Energy Joint Stock Company - a "dare to think, dare to do" enterprise, a pioneer in the field of environmental energy; at the same time, he acknowledged the efforts, intelligence and enthusiasm of thousands of Vietnamese and international officers, engineers and workers who worked tirelessly to complete the project.

The Chairman of the City People's Committee emphasized that the inauguration of the Soc Son Waste-to-Energy Plant is just the beginning. Hanoi will continue to gradually eliminate the method of burying waste, replacing it with waste-to-energy incineration, recycling, reuse technologies, combining waste classification at source and developing a modern, synchronous collection and treatment system.

The city is committed to accompanying and creating the most favorable conditions for investors in the environmental field, contributing to improving people's quality of life, building Hanoi into a green, clean, livable and sustainable city.

“Soc Son waste-to-energy plant is not only a project of today, but also a belief and aspiration for a green - clean - beautiful - civilized capital in the future,” affirmed the Chairman of the City People's Committee.

On this occasion, Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh requested Thien Y Hanoi Environmental Energy Joint Stock Company to soon start the second phase of the factory expansion with a capacity of 1,600 tons/day and night. At the same time, the city's departments and branches coordinated with Thien Y Hanoi Environmental Energy Joint Stock Company to complete investment procedures and bidding process for the construction of the second waste incineration plant to burn all the waste at the Nam Son Waste Treatment Complex.
