Ba Dinh Square and other areas in Hoan Kiem and Tay Ho districts are the core of Hanoi , where many important government buildings and headquarters are located, and are brilliantly beautiful when viewed from above.
Ba Dinh Square before the 20th century was still an empty land, then the French built it into Pugininer flower garden. Around the flower garden, there were a number of public buildings and villas, including the Presidential Palace and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today. After the Japanese coup against the French, Doctor Tran Van Lai - Mayor of Hanoi under the Tran Trong Kim government changed the name of the flower garden to Ba Dinh Square. On September 2, 1945, at Ba Dinh Square, President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. The square at that time was a sea of people and flags, everyone was radiant, joyful and bursting with happiness on the day of independence.
The Government Office Building is a national project of special significance. This is where important meetings and general activities of the Government take place. The project has a total floor area of 25,000m2, a scale of 9 floors above ground, 3 basements, designed in a neoclassical style.
National Assembly Building on Doc Lap Street (Ba Dinh District). The building has a square structure, a circular central meeting room, 39 meters high with 5 floors above ground and 3 basements, floor area of 60,000m2.
On the roof of the building is the national flag, below the ceiling dome is a large crystal chandelier system weighing nearly 6 tons.
The Monument to Heroes and Martyrs who sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland is located on Bac Son Street, opposite President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum, next to Thang Long Imperial Citadel and Ba Dinh Hall. On May 7, 1994, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory, Bac Son Monument was inaugurated. Bac Son Monument is 12.6m high in an area of 12,000m2. The monument is a square block, 8.7m high, the pedestal is 0.9m high and the pedestal is 1.35m high, the surrounding lake is 1,255m2 wide. The area of trees, lawns, and flower gardens is 1,620m2... The monument is built with a concrete and steel structure, the exterior is covered with ivory white marble, like a giant candle lighting up the blue sky. With an age of more than 150 years, the Turtle Tower of Hoan Kiem Lake is not only a tourist symbol but also evokes the beauty of culture and history. The design of the top floor of the tower is like a watchtower, square in shape, each side is 2m long. On the east wall, above the round door with a diameter of about 0.68m. Outside the tower are the words Quy Son Thap. The total length from the mound of earth to the top floor is 8.8m. The headquarters of the State Bank of Vietnam on Ly Thai To Street started as the Hanoi branch of the Bank of Indochina (Banque de l'Indochine) established in 1875 in Paris (France) to issue banknotes and coins for French colonies in Asia and to manage French economic interests in the Far East. From October 10, 1954 to the present, the headquarters has been used as the brain of the banking sector, acting as the Central Bank of Vietnam, performing the function of state management of currency and banking activities.
Located in the most prime location in Hanoi, Trang Tien Plaza before 2002 was a General Department Store, the most luxurious shopping area in the capital during the subsidy period. Today, with a new look, the items sold inside are still quite diverse, from necessities to luxury goods.
Hang Dau Water Tower was built by the French in 1894, located at the intersection of Hang Than, Hang Luoc, Hang Giay, Hang Dau, Quan Thanh and Phan Dinh Phung streets. The tower is a cylindrical shape about 25m high with a pointed roof, with a capacity of 1,250m3, receiving water from Yen Phu water plant and then bringing it to the tank on the top floor to create potential energy to bring into the pipeline system to the city center.
Cua Bac Church on Phan Dinh Phung Street is one of the most popular tourist destinations with its Asian-European architectural style. The building was built from 1925 to 1930 by French architect Ernest Hébrard, on a long stretch of land at the corner of Nguyen Bieu Street. Initially, the church was named the Vietnamese Martyrs' Church, with the meaning of the Virgin Mary as the Queen of all Saints. Later, because it was located next to the North Gate of Thang Long Citadel, people often called it Cua Bac Church.
Tran Quoc is one of the oldest pagodas in Vietnam, once honored to be in the Top 10 most beautiful pagodas in the world. Inside the temple, there are worships of Amitabha Buddha, Sakyamuni Buddha and Guanyin Buddha. In 1962, Tran Quoc Pagoda was recognized by the Ministry of Culture and Information as a National Historical and Cultural Relic. For Vietnamese Buddhism, the project is truly a source of pride, a valuable heritage possessing architectural, historical and cultural beauty.
Thanh Nien Street - the most romantic "love street" in Hanoi was formed around the 15th - 17th century. The street is about 1km long, located between West Lake and Truc Bach Lake, about 3km from Hoan Kiem Lake. On October 10, 1958, 4 years after the Liberation of the Capital, the Hanoi Administrative Committee started the project to expand Co Ngu Street and assigned the capital's youth to carry out the project. In 1959, the renovation project was completed, the small, bumpy Co Ngu Street became spacious, smooth, easy to travel and was named Thanh Nien.
