Hanoi tightens inspection and strictly handles fake drugs and fake food until June 15

This is a move to tighten management, prevent violations of food safety, and protect the health of the people of the capital.

According to the official dispatch, the City People's Committee requested departments, branches, People's Committees of districts, towns and related units to continue to strictly implement the Central Government's instructions on food safety.

At the same time, units need to strengthen the organization of peak inspections and reviews of compliance with pharmaceutical and food safety laws, focusing on establishments trading in medicines, food, health protection foods, milk and other food supplements. This peak inspection will last until June 15, 2025.

The City People's Committee also directed to strengthen control of violations of advertising on the internet and other mass media, in order to raise consumer awareness in choosing and using safe products.

In addition, the Hanoi Department of Health is assigned to preside over and coordinate with relevant units to strengthen inspection, examination and supervision of food safety, especially in key areas such as tourist areas, school kitchens, industrial parks, industrial clusters, street food and food service establishments serving workers, students, tourists, as well as establishments producing bottled drinking water and ready-to-use ice.

Notably, the Hanoi Department of Health is determined to strictly handle and suspend operations of facilities that do not meet food safety conditions or do not have valid certificates.

At the same time, the Department of Health fully prepares plans, forces, medicines and medical equipment to be ready to handle food safety incidents, food poisoning or food-borne diseases that may occur in the area.

In addition, other departments are also assigned specific tasks. The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development coordinates with the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to strengthen inspection and supervision of the quality of input agricultural and food materials; at the same time, guide production organizations and individuals to apply safe production processes and trace the origin of products.

The Department of Industry and Trade strengthens market management, reviews e-commerce trading floors, online sales applications and e-commerce websites to promptly detect and handle violations related to unpublished food or illegal advertising.

The Department of Culture and Sports directed press and television agencies to increase propaganda about food safety, publicize violations and handling results to warn consumers and businesses.

Hanoi City Police are assigned to coordinate with relevant units to organize special investigation projects and strictly handle acts of manufacturing, storing, transporting, and trading fake drugs, fake foods, and products of unknown origin that are harmful to people's health in accordance with the law.

People's Committees of districts, towns and cities are fully responsible for ensuring food safety in their localities, preventing and promptly stopping fake food, fake medicine, fake milk and fake health protection products according to their management levels.

Localities must strictly inspect, examine and handle violations to protect consumer rights and maintain social trust in food safety.

This campaign demonstrates the determination of the Hanoi government in improving the effectiveness of state management of food safety, contributing to protecting public health and ensuring a safe and healthy environment for the people of the capital.
