Hanoi ranked 11th out of 15 most favorite cities in the world

(GLO)- Vietnam's capital Hanoi once again affirmed its name on the world tourism map when it ranked 11th out of 15 most favorite cities in the world announced by Time Out Magazine (UK).

Ranked 11th, Hanoi is known not only as the capital of the country but also for its thousand years of civilization, cultural depth and cuisine . Hoan Kiem Lake, West Lake, The Huc Bridge, 36 streets, Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Temple of Literature, Bat Trang pottery village... are places that tourists cannot miss when coming to Hanoi. In addition, cuisine is also a unique feature, leaving an unforgettable impression in the hearts of tourists with bun cha, pho cuon, banh tom, cha ca la vong...

According to the Hanoi Department of Tourism , from January to May 2025, the city welcomed about 12.77 million tourists (up 10.9% over the same period last year). Of which, the number of international visitors reached 3.16 million (up 20.2%, with 2.23 million overnight guests). Domestic visitors reached about 9.61 million (up 7.8% over the same period in 2024). Total revenue from tourists is estimated at VND 51,940 billion (up 14.1% over the same period).

In May alone, Hanoi attracted about 2.72 million visitors (up 16.9% over the same period in 2024). Of these, international visitors were estimated at 0.5 million (up 25%, with 400,000 staying). Domestic visitors reached 2.16 million (up 14.9%). Total tourism revenue in the month reached VND 10,540 billion (up 19%).

According to information from the Hanoi Department of Tourism, international tourists highly appreciate tourism products associated with the capital's cultural heritage, cuisine, traditional craft villages and nightlife experiences.

Along with Hanoi, Asia continues to impress with 5 locations, including Tokyo, Japan (ranked 1st); Beijing, China (ranked 3rd); Chiang Mai, Thailand (ranked 9th); and Jakarta, Indonesia (ranked 13th).

In addition, the list of 15 most popular cities for tourists also includes: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (ranked 2nd); Lucerne, Switzerland (ranked 4th); Kuwait, Kuwait (ranked 5th); Seville, Spain (ranked 6th); Chicago, USA (ranked 7th); Belize, Belize (ranked 8th); Tbilisi, Georgia (ranked 10th); Nassau, Bahamas (ranked 12th); Santiago, Chile (ranked 14th); Buenos Aires, Argentina (ranked 15th).
