Republican congressman Santos was expelled from the US House of Representatives after a vote related to allegations of fraud in his election campaign.
On December 1, the US House Ethics Committee voted to expel George Santos, a 35-year-old congressman from New York, with 311 votes in favor, 114 votes against, and two abstentions.
Mr Santos survived an expulsion vote last month, amid concerns that it would set a precedent for expelling a congressman before he has been convicted.
However, the situation changed after the US Congress released a report showing that Mr. Santos used campaign money for botox, luxury shopping and using websites with adult content.

A special election is expected to be held within three months to replace Mr Santos. New York Governor Kathy Hochul and former Congressman Tom Suozzi are considered potential candidates.
Mr Santos filed his return 20 months late and his net worth “inexplicably increased” to $11 million, a newspaper reported.
The US Justice Department arrested Mr. Santos in May and charged him with 13 counts, including perjury, money laundering and fraud. If convicted, Mr. Santos could face up to 20 years in prison.
