Hai Phong expands development space with 9 key projects and works

On the morning of August 19, the People's Committee of Hai Phong City held a groundbreaking ceremony and inaugurated 9 projects to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, including 3 bridges connecting to the main bridge of the Government.

At the direct bridge point of May Chai bridge area, Vingroup Corporation held the inauguration ceremony of the construction of May Chai bridge (Royal bridge) and the access roads on both sides of the bridge belonging to the Vu Yen Island entertainment, housing and ecological park project (Vinhomes Royal Island) - Hai Phong.

The bridge has a total investment of more than 2,300 billion VND, with a length of nearly 2.2 km, a width of 21 m with 4 lanes, the starting point of the bridge is on Vu Yen island, the end point intersects with Le Thanh Tong street, shortening the travel time from the island to the city center in less than 5 minutes.

In addition to opening the road, the Royal Bridge is also a new symbol of Hai Phong with a special design: the two towers at the bridgehead create a curved arch that evokes the image of a bird spreading its wings and flying high, while creating a " World Gateway Bridge" as a friendly invitation to the most innovative investment and business opportunities in the region.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Le Ngoc Chau, Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee affirmed: "9 key projects and works in the fields of road traffic, aviation, health, culture, and social security inaugurated and started today not only contribute to the completion of infrastructure for traffic, aviation, health, culture, and social security but also create new momentum to promote growth, expand the space for urban development of the City and improve the quality of life of the people".

The Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee acknowledged and commended the investors; consultants; and contractors for promoting the spirit of "overcoming the sun and rain, working in 3 shifts, 4 shifts" through holidays, Tet, and without days off to speed up progress and ensure project quality.

The inauguration of May Chai Bridge is part of a series of events by Vingroup Corporation within the program of Inauguration and Groundbreaking Ceremony of projects and works to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025) with a series of 6 key projects across the country. In addition to May Chai Bridge, there are 5 other socio-economic, traffic, industrial, urban and tourism infrastructure projects in Hanoi City, Quang Ninh Province, Ha Tinh Province, Tay Ninh Province and Dong Nai Province.

These are the inauguration of the National Exhibition Fair Center in Dong Anh, Hanoi; the groundbreaking of the 18-hole international standard golf course in Quang Hanh, Quang Ninh province; the groundbreaking of the Vinhomes industrial park infrastructure investment and business project in Vung Ang, Ha Tinh province; the groundbreaking of the Phuoc Vinh Tay new urban area project; and the groundbreaking of Component 1: Investment in the construction of the North-South Expressway, West section, Gia Nghia (Dak Nong) - Chon Thanh (Binh Phuoc), Dong Nai province.

With the simultaneous inauguration and groundbreaking of infrastructure projects of national stature, creating momentum for socio-economic, transportation, industrial, urban and tourism development in 6 major cities and provinces across the country - Vingroup Corporation has demonstrated the pioneering role of the private enterprise sector in creating Vietnam's internal strength, in the nation's 80-year journey of building, innovating and reaching the world.

8 projects and works were started and inaugurated simultaneously.

The two remaining online bridges in the City connecting with the Government bridge are the Groundbreaking Ceremony of the T2 Passenger Terminal Project - Cat Bi International Airport and the Groundbreaking Ceremony of the Resettlement Area Construction Project of the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong Railway Project.

Accordingly, the T2 Passenger Terminal Project - Cat Bi International Airport is one of the strategic projects invested by Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV). The project has a total investment of more than VND 2,690 billion, built on an area of ​​23,200m2, with a capacity of 5 million passengers/year (equivalent to 1,500 passengers/peak hour) and has a planned expansion plan to increase the capacity to 10 million passengers/year when needed. With this capacity, together with Terminal T1 (researched to expand to 3 million passengers/year), it will meet the target of reaching the total port capacity of 13 million passengers/year by 2030.

Perspective of Passenger Terminal T2 - Cat Bi International Airport

Given the urgency of the project, ACV strives to complete construction within 18 months from the date of full handover of the construction site. ACV commits to working with consulting units and construction contractors to mobilize maximum resources, apply advanced management solutions, strictly comply with technical, safety and quality standards, and put the project into operation on schedule - quality - ensuring the highest efficiency.

After the project is completed and put into operation, Passenger Terminal T2 - Cat Bi International Airport will become a new symbol of Hai Phong city, becoming the leading aviation - logistics - tourism center in the region, realizing the aspiration of Hai Phong city to rise higher.

Next is the project to build a resettlement area for the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway project in Duong Kinh area, invested by the Hai Phong Transport and Agricultural Construction Investment Project Management Board. The project has a scale of more than 7.4 hectares of land (including 470 lots to meet the needs of about 1,880 people) in Duong Kinh ward with a total investment of nearly 284 billion VND.

When completed, the project will promote the advantages of the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong economic corridor, ensuring effective connection of domestic and international railway networks, linked with ensuring national defense, security and international integration. In particular, the project will create an important driving force for the economic and social development of Hai Phong city.

Along with that, 3 bridges proactively organized by the City at the same time as the above bridges include the groundbreaking ceremony of the National Highway 37 Bypass projects (section connecting Thong Nhat Bridge/National Highway 37 with Ring Road 1); Thai Binh River Overpass and access road of Ring Road 1; Martyrs' Temple and Cultural Park, held in Tan Hung ward (West of Hai Phong).

In addition, the City proactively organized the groundbreaking ceremony of the National Highway 37 Bypass Project (section connecting Thong Nhat Bridge/National Highway 37 with Ring Road I); Thai Binh River Overpass Bridge and the access road of Ring Road I; Martyrs' Temple and Cultural Park, held in Tan Hung Ward (West of Hai Phong); The groundbreaking ceremony of the project to build a traffic route connecting National Highway 17B with Dinh Bridge and the inauguration ceremony of the Dong Viet Bridge access road project connecting National Highway 37, held in Nguyen Dai Nang Ward (West of Hai Phong); The inauguration ceremony of phase II of the Hai Duong Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital Project (Inpatient treatment and general services block), held in the premises of Hai Duong Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital, Le Thanh Nghi Ward.
