After more than 2 years of construction, the Kim Dong - Giai Phong underpass project (Hoang Mai district) has reached more than 60% of its volume, expected to be completed in 2025. This is an underpass located at a radial intersection in Hanoi, running through the area connecting the southern gateway to the center of the capital.

The Kim Dong - Giai Phong underpass construction project (Hoang Mai district, Hanoi) started in October 2022. The project has a total investment of 778 billion VND, invested by the Hanoi Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, and is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

This is the 5th underpass in Hanoi built from 2009 to present, after Kim Lien, Trung Hoa, Thanh Xuan, and Le Van Luong tunnels.

The project has a scale of 4 lanes, the total length of the tunnel and approach road is 890 m in the direction of Ring Road 2.5, of which the closed tunnel is 140 m long, the open tunnel is 320 m long. Currently, in the Kim Dong area, the tunnel unit is concentrated in the middle of the protocol and the access road (the work has reached about 80% of the volume).

As for the Hong lagoon area, the construction unit has completed the access roads, and the closed tunnel section across the railway (about 60% of the work volume) is complete.

To complete the project in 2025, the contractor is speeding up the progress, dividing workers into 3 shifts with many construction sites.

The contractor has completed the main sections H2B and H5B on Giai Phong Street (inner city width - Ngoc Hoi). In the near future, the contractor will proceed with the construction of sections H3B to H4B on Phong Street (inner city direction - Ngoc Hoi Street).

Upon completion, the Kim Dong underpass project promises to contribute to synchronizing the Ring Road 2.5 route, ensuring smooth traffic through Giap Bat freight station and surrounding areas. (In the photo is the Kim Dong - Giai Phong underpass area connecting to Ring Road 2.5.
