North Korea has dispatched about 1,500 special forces to Russia's Far East to train and adapt at local military bases and is likely to be deployed to fight in the war in Ukraine, South Korea's National Intelligence Service (NIS) said on October 18.
In a statement, the National Intelligence Service said it worked with Ukrainian intelligence and used facial recognition artificial intelligence technology to identify North Korean officers in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine who assisted Russian forces in firing missiles.

Earlier, the South Korean Presidential Office said that South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol convened an unscheduled security meeting with key intelligence, military and national security officials to discuss the North Korean military's involvement in the war between Russia and Ukraine.
The South Korean side asserted that the closer ties between Russia and North Korea go beyond the scope of “transporting military supplies” to “mobilizing troops,” which is a serious security threat not only to South Korea.
Currently, both Russia and North Korea have not yet responded to the information that South Korea and the West have accused.
