Thousands of people flocked to Tay Ho Palace on the 5th day of the first lunar month - the last day of Tet holiday. Tay Ho Palace, dedicated to Holy Mother Lieu Hanh, was built in the 17th century. This is a sacred national relic, attracting a large number of people to worship at the beginning of the month and on the full moon day.
The front yard of Tay Ho Temple was packed with people. At the beginning of the year, people came to pray for happiness, peace, health and success.
The crowd was so dense that many tourists had to hold their offerings high or carry them on their heads to protect them from being displaced or damaged.
A representative of Tay Ho Palace said that during the Tet At Ty period, the number of visitors to the Palace is highest from the 2nd day. During the first days of the new year, there are about 5-7,000 visitors per day.
Inside the main shrine of Tam Phu Cong Dong, the atmosphere became stuffy because of the crowd. Despite the crowd, many visitors still patiently approached the altar to make offerings and express their sincerity.
Everyone who comes to the Palace has the same wish for a healthy family and smooth work in the new year.
Mr. Nguyen Quang Huy ( Bac Giang - the person holding the offering tray) said that for many years now, every New Year's Eve, he always goes to Tay Ho temple to pray for luck.
"Today is the last day of Tet holiday so I took the opportunity to go to the temple. Even though the traffic was jammed, I had to wait a long time and was quite tired, I still tried because this is a meaningful thing to do during Tet, it helps me feel more at peace," he said.
In front of the Tay Ho Palace, incense smoke billowed from a large incense burner. The large crowd quickly filled the incense burner, forcing the person on duty to continuously remove the incense sticks to make room for new visitors.
To serve tourists coming to Tay Ho Temple during the New Year, the relic management board has assigned people to work at the Tam Bao department, staff to record merits, 2 people to work at the gold burning furnace area, 2 people to clean the public restrooms...
Restaurants around Tay Ho Temple were packed with diners, many places had to double or triple their staff to serve the influx of people coming to pay their respects. In some restaurants, diners had to wait 25-30 minutes for food and a seat.
The owner of a restaurant near the palace said the number of customers at the beginning of the year increased 10 times compared to normal days. The best-selling dishes are vermicelli with snails and shrimp cakes.
In the afternoon, the number of visitors to Tay Ho Palace still did not decrease. In front of the Palace, volunteers had to be on duty to direct traffic and guide vehicles.
