This afternoon, the relics of Buddha Sakyamuni arrived at Tam Chuc Pagoda. The relics of Buddha Sakyamuni - a national treasure of India - were brought to Vietnam for the first time, 2,569 years after the Buddha entered nirvana. According to the plan of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, from today until May 21, Buddha's relics will be enshrined at Tam The Temple of Tam Chuc Pagoda. The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha organized a procession to enshrine the Buddha's relics at four locations: Thanh Tam Pagoda - Ho Chi Minh City (May 3-8), Ba Den Mountain - Tay Ninh (May 8-13), Quan Su Pagoda - Hanoi (May 13-17), Tam Chuc Pagoda - Ha Nam (May 17-21). This is a special spiritual event, creating an opportunity for monks, nuns, Buddhists and people to worship Buddha's relics in a sacred and solemn space. From early morning, thousands of people were present around the event area waiting to worship Buddha's relics. Ms. Quach Thi Lan (second from left) and her group of friends (Muong ethnic group) were present at Tam Chuc pagoda since 4am this morning. Buddha's relics are placed on a palanquin, ready to be carried to Tam The Temple. When the Buddha's relics were transferred from the car to the temple, tens of thousands of people joined the procession and paid homage. From the entrance area, the flow of people to the pagoda became more and more crowded. Not only monks and nuns, Buddhists in Ha Nam , many people from other provinces and cities also came here to attend this special spiritual event. Buddha's relics were brought to Tam The Temple for people to worship during the event days. From noon today, people will be allowed to visit and pay homage to the Buddha's relics. After that, the Buddha's relics will be brought back to India. The organizers offer free tickets for the tram and boat tours in Tam Chuc Pagoda (normal ticket prices range from 250,000 to 480,000 VND/trip).
