The Dau Giay – Phan Thiet Expressway has been put into operation, shortening the travel distance from Ho Chi Minh City to the tourist center of Phan Thiet – Mui Ne to only 2.5 hours. This is a good sign for the people, but currently most of the bus companies are still operating on National Highway 1A, making passengers upset.
On April 30, the Dau Giay - Phan Thiet Expressway was inaugurated and put into operation, creating favorable conditions for people to travel, shortening travel time from Phan Thiet City to Ho Chi Minh City and vice versa. However, currently, because they still pick up and drop off passengers on National Highway 1A, most bus companies do not run on the expressway, causing many passengers to be upset.
Being on the sleeper bus from Ho Chi Minh City to Phan Thiet of H. CF recently, I witnessed the frustration of many passengers because this bus did not go on the Dau Giay - Phan Thiet expressway but still went on the old route. The reason was that the bus had to drop off and pick up passengers on National Highway 1A. It is worth mentioning here that there were nearly 40 passengers on the bus, mainly traveling from Ho Chi Minh City to Phan Thiet, with only 1 passenger getting off in Long Thanh area and picking up 1 passenger in Xuan Loc district, Dong Nai province, so the bus had to go on the old route of National Highway 1A. Mr. Nam - in Ho Chi Minh City. Ho Chi Minh said indignantly: “It was clear when buying the ticket, the staff said the bus would take the expressway, so it was expected to depart at 1 p.m. from Ho Chi Minh City and arrive in Phan Thiet at around 3:30 p.m. (2.5 hours). I thought that with this travel time, I would arrive in Phan Thiet in time to attend my nephew's engagement ceremony. But when I got on the bus and asked the driver, I learned that because they were picking up and dropping off passengers on the old route, they could not take the expressway. I found it unreasonable, why didn't the bus company arrange for those two passengers to take another bus on the old route, instead of forcing all passengers on the bus to go together, which was very time-consuming and delayed all plans.”
Sharing the same sentiment, Mr. Hung said: When I heard that the Dau Giay - Phan Thiet expressway was inaugurated and put into operation, I was also eager to experience what it was like on the expressway, and conveniently go to Ho Chi Minh City for medical examination. But when booking a ticket, the staff informed me that whether the bus would take the expressway or not depended on whether it picked up and dropped off passengers along the way. Therefore, it was only at the departure time that I knew which route to take. So for the whole trip, I still had to take the old route for 5 hours because there were passengers getting on and off along the way. It was really depressing to think that the expressway had been put into operation, shortening the distance, making it convenient for people to travel from Phan Thiet - Ho Chi Minh City and vice versa, but people still had to depend on the bus company.
Researching some sleeper bus companies on the route from Phan Thiet to Ho Chi Minh City and vice versa, it is known that currently most bus companies still operate on the old route according to the needs of passengers. If there are any, the bus companies can only arrange 1-2 routes per day on the Dau Giay - Phan Thiet expressway, but mainly at night (1-2 am), the remaining trips during the day still go on National Highway 1A, which is very inconvenient for passengers. A bus driver said: "In the past few days, I have had to endure complaints from many passengers on the bus about why they don't take the expressway to be faster. But unfortunately, most of the trips during the day have passengers getting on and off along the way, although very few, but they are long-time passengers who have been with the bus company, if they don't meet their needs, it's not okay. Therefore, the driver must do whatever the bus company arranges."
In order to facilitate and shorten the distance for passengers traveling from Phan Thiet to Ho Chi Minh City and vice versa, bus companies need to arrange and schedule more trips on the highway during the day. Avoid the situation where passengers depend on the bus company to know which route to take at the departure time. That way, passengers will be proactive in their travel time so as not to be passive about personal matters.
